I’ve driven down 34th street and had a golf ball bounce in front of my car one more than one occasion. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t shanked by one of these guys though. Congratulations to our national champions! Go Gators!

Youtube has some great, extended footage from the coverage. Take time to go look for it. This was a highly dramatic event, as close golf can be. Tears all around...the good kind from the Noles, the sweet kind from the Gators!
Name another college program that has won national championships in men’s tennis, golf, track and field, football, baseball and basketball in the last 20 years. We even won two men’s swimming championship back in the early 80s and currently dominate the SEC men’s swimming division

This is awesome. I played on the Gator golf team under Coach John Darr in 1980. Failed to make the team in '81 under the new coach Lynn Blevins which was a mixed blessing as it helped me lay down my dreams of playing golf for a living and instead graduated with a UF engineering degree which served me well. Met my wife of 39 years in Intro Circuits class in UFs electrical engineering program. Have followed Gator golf almost as much as football and delighted to see this championship to build on the legacy from the 68 & 73 championships under Buster Bishop (had a lesson from Buster as a college senior; what a delightful man). The tradition continued under Buddy Alexander with championships in '93 and 2001. Buddy always fielded a great team....knew how to recruit and grow fine young men and joined Buster in the Gator Country hall of fame after 26 years as a coach and 10 SEC championships to go with his two NCAA championships. Alabama's program had been dominating recently but JC Deacon's crew grabbed championship #5 and I for one Gator could not be happier. They seem like wonderful ambassadors especially Fred Biondi, a Brazilian whose career got better each year as a Gator culminating in a championship individually and as a team as a senior. It's great to be a Florida Gator.
Thanks for posting your story. That was enjoyable to read. One thing struck me personally: While not as significant as your story, it did remind me of the time back in the 80s when I had to choose on a specific Saturday would I attend the open tryouts for Oakland’s USFL team, or sit for the California professional engineer exam. My wife wisely convinced me that my prospects as a professional engineer were probably much better than my prospects as a pro football player.
