How Would You Describe The Kind Of Players Napier Is Looking For?

Etienne is a perfect example of a Napier kind of guy.

According to 247, Napier brought in 33 this year, and 26 last year. That counts incoming transfers. I believe we have 84 on scholarship right now (with a placeholder for Austin Simmons if he reclassifies to 2023). So, that looks like 59 of Napier's guys against 25 of Mullen's to me, so that would be 70/30 like you said. That percentage could be a little different one way or the other if you consider the full team and count walk-ons.

I think we are starting to get a flavor for the type of player Billy N. is looking for by looking at Pearsall, Etienne, Princely, Montrell, Caleb Douglas, Shemar James, and Jaydon Hill. I liked a lot of what I saw from this core in many of the games like USC-E, Texas A&M, Missouri, Utah. Hard to explain how we dropped off so dramatically last 3 games if our focus was on character and finishing strong. I am not that impressed with our portal haul, esp QB. Like the Michigan safety a lot, but there were a bunch of nice looking QBs in the portal and we end up with Mertz? Hoping for the best, but Jeez hard to get excited when we look like close to double digit underdogs to the Mutts, Seminoles, Utah and LSU and underdogs to Tennessee and Kentucky. 2024 class is looking awesome....so, there is that. Go Gators!

What sets them apart isn’t athleticism ( Tebow always Ana amazing athlete though) but their desire, fire, passion…. Whatever you call it. That is what Napier wants.

 

I totally agree, but like all good coaches... he would take a plus1 player/freak athlete.

 

I had hoped, half expected, to see improvement over the season. I suspect our character flaws, as much as our physical limitations, were laid bare.
