You totally missed the mark. My point is that Desantis is doing things so autocratic and so extreme that instead of just admitting he has gone off the rails, people like yourself use the both sides do it. Both sides are not doing it. I am being forced to vote for candidates I do not like because my party moved too far to the right for my conscious. His latest threat is something Viktor Orban would say and do. I will not be party to that. I will put up with their stupid green ideas before I go anywhere near the road the right is heading down. I am not alone either.
I felt the same way. Replacing one autocrat with another should not be applauded in any way whatsoever. In fact, it tells me you didn't learn the first time. The stove is still hot and you will burn your hand again.

Well my side is not a manifest threat to democracy, populated largely by vile people. I can count two to three loons in Congress none in the Senate. They’re for the most part harmless in that they don’t have much influence but I wish they’d get voted out. I’m moderate like that.

There is a vast difference between the right wing of the GOP and the left wing of the Democratic Party. The right wing in the House, thanks to gerrymandering, is probably more corrupt than at any time in our history, where “corrupt” means a disregard of democratic norms. A perfect example of this is their continued support of Donald Trump.
Kind of like a leftie claiming to be middle of the road. The “both sides do it” is not intended to rationalize or excuse behavior. It is mainly used (by several moderate posters on both sides here) to point out to the extremes that they are wearing rose colored glasses when they look at their own side. Someone “middle of the road” should see this.
It seems like people who are "middle of the road" in this country are becoming political roadkill. And I don't feel so good myself.

And i disagree and think the left is often trying to make change just to be contrarian and "progressive" and in the process is also bringing harm. Progress is easiest from the middle of the one way paved road. Not in the overrun ditch on either side.
