You can be certain this is going to have an affect on future rulings. “President Joe Biden has appointed more judges to the federal courts at this stage in his tenure than any president since John F. Kennedy, and his appointees include a record number of women and racial and ethnic minorities, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from the Federal Judicial Center.” Biden has appointed more federal judges than any president since JFK at this point in his tenure
Doesn't matter. The Republicans love to judge shop for their grievances (there's always a Trump judge in Texas or somewhere), plus they own the Supreme Court.
Thanks to Mitch for dropping the filibuster on judge appointments. And thanks to republicans for running such horrible candidates democrats were able to keep the majority.
Trump ended up appointing almost 250 judges in total so I'm not sure a halftime score on this is a relevant fact at all.
Actually, it was Sen. Harry Reid D-Nev who dropped the filibuster on judge appointments. McConnell just extended that to include SCOTUS judges.
True but after the Democrats took over the Senate most of those judges were compromise judges where Trump’s first choice was dropped in favor of a more moderate judge. Trump losing in court to his own appointed judges is evidence of that. Sadly he was able to force through three MAGA SCOTUS judges, and a couple of wack job judges in Florida and Texas before the democrats took over the Senate.
Glenn Grothman is complaining that there's not enough straight white Christian males being appointed by Biden
This is true. It matters. But as long as Republican politicians control SCOTUS, it doesn't matter enough.
Senate goes for 'nuclear option' Democrats had control of the Senate and the White House, to blame it on Republicans is a non starter.
They are overloading the blue states. Nominations for judges that are from a state with at least one Republican senator are few and far between
I know all those facts about and 100s more. That is about 2% of the relevant facts on the judicial wars that go back decades.
yep. Plus Dr oz. Maga candidates. GOP can thank trump and his endorsements for losing senate majority. And now here comes the judges.
Democrats didn't take the Senate until 2021, so no compromise judges were appointed during Trump's term.
Democratic senates confirmed more than a dozen Republican SCOTUS appointees in the post-war era. The very first time the shoe was on the other foot, McConnell refused to even give the Democratic appointee a hearing. He likewise blocked essentially all lower court Obama appointees while in the minority. You don't think the Republicans have any responsibility for this?
Okay, but it's the Democrat's fault. They refused to confirm a man who characterized the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as "unsurpassed ugliness" (Bork), insisting on a more reasonable pick (whom they confirmed), and made Clarence Thomas have to answer for some of his sexual harassment (before confirming him).
