Mods need to rename this the “get off my orange and blue lawn” thread lol. Kids love it. Recruits love it. ESPN and social media will make a big deal. It looks cool. Who cares? We are not Penn state or bama. We are Florida. We should have a little fun with it. The alternate helmets (blue, white) look great. We should do more with the fightin gator logo. Uf officials say they can’t keep it on the shelves. Every kid on campus has a throwback fightin gator shirt on currently. Black unis are sweet. There are entire social media sites (uniswag) dedicated to uni combos so CLEARLY it’s not dumb. It’s a smart move by Napier and for a good cause.
Those studies are just plain ass. Embarrassing that anyone would pass crap like that off as science. Sorry. Most Bedouin tribes wear white, but some wear black. It has nothing to do with heat, but with the Islamic sect to which they belong. Black attracts heat, white reflects it. But do a "science" experiment of your own, you know, a common sense experiment, if anyone in this country has common sense anymore. Go stand in the noon day sun on a hot, cloudless day, dressed all in black; then do the same on another day dressed all in white. Get back to me.
I have a convincing theory that the infatuation with black uniforms had its genesis when the white sox rebranded in the early 90’s from red/white/blue, to what they currently are. The hip-hop movement latched on and through the magic of MTV and the like, it caught on. I have no problem with black uni’s. Apparently it is part of the landscape of modern sports. Kinda like participation trophies. But UF already lays claim to the two most beautiful colors under the sun….. like I answered when asked what my opinion was on tattoos: “you don’t put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari.”
As the great American philosopher Ricky Bobby once said, “Winners do what they want.” Well, we aren’t winning. And when you aren’t winning, a gimmick like this is just mockworthy.
I don't understand why Pedo State wears their blue jerseys when they do their "whiteout" games. Wouldn't it make more sense to wear the all-whites?
Upper Deck MJR1 - Debuted in 1994. Michael Jordan's Father was murdered in 1993. Darnell Dockett's mother was murdered in 1994. He is wearing a Fred Taylor Visor - exact specifications - in highschool.
Is this why the middle easterners wear black in the dessert? Oh wait, wrong movie. Lol... I would NOT wear black in the sun... and especially not in a dessert.
At least a nooner would mean we get Beth Mowins to pontificate on said black uniforms for three hours. Recruits will absolutely love that.
I have , and the result is i sweat the same, feel no different, but as I work outside I prefer to wear a black T rather then a white one mostly because it doesn't look as dirty after a bit of working and I'm not participating in a wet t shirt contest with a white T. But in the 20 years I've been with my company I can't say my black shirt made me any hotter or feel any more fatigued then wearing a white shirt, I'm gonna sweat regardless. Also another question for those with the science knowledge on heat and colors. Serious question bc i don't t know, is how much difference is it from wearing dark blue or a royal blue vs black? There are a bunch of teams that wear a navy blue or other dark blue shades, why do they do that if white is the "safest, most comfortable" color to wear? And is wearing the darker color unbearable, uncomfortable? I'm genuinely now curious what win/loss records are with teams who wear white vs dark jerseys. I can't imagine that crimson red is much cooler with heat than black or dark blue yet the Tide have worn them forever, (they also have a Black alternate jersey). And to be clear I LOVE our colors and scheme on the regular but for a one off alternate jersey being worn with a charitable purpose I have no problems with especially if it motivates our kids mentally or whatever. I would just like to win while wearing g them (and every other jersey color we wear)
