I don’t think he can win, what I do hope is that he pulls the party back towards decency a bit if he runs.
“As Christ is being shoved out in America through media and government and being replaced by evil, even evil gods, how do we change that?” Rowland asked. Seems pretty specific to the one with the Christ fella. Although all the “evil gods” out there could be all about that Buddha action too, I guess.
Many say the left doesn't give America sufficient credit for its progress on human rights/civil rights. That's a fair point but many of the same people seem to believe that America is more evil today than it was at its founding or other times of its past. I'm not sure how to reconcile those positions. Is it mainly because a smaller percentage of Americans today are Christian?
Actually, I liked Tim Scott’s message. I know it makes liberals cringe whenever a successful black man speaks to “teaching the necessity of individual responsibility” over the idea of “being immersed in a culture where everyone’s a victim” but take a deep breath and you’ll be fine. I know the rest of his brief Town Hall speech probably upset you also. I mean lines like “if you are able bodied, you work” or “if you take out a loan, you pay it back” can be novel concepts that are really hard for many Democrats to understand.
Do the US and world a favor and explain that to Kevin McCarthy. It's his side of the aisle that demonstrates no understating of the concept.
As you know talk is cheap. Ronnie BIG GOV Reagan said things about limited gov & increased the debt 186% - the most of ANY prez since you've been alive. As for personal responsibility, here's what the boss of the party of BIG GOV has to say.
Exactly. The guy who has been the Republican Party for the last seven years claims that nothing is his fault and he's the biggest victim in the history of mankind ... but those Democrats ....
Why doesn't that seem to matter when the right pushes to give corporations and high earners a tax cut everytime they win the presidency?
Basically, all claims that "the other side hates (insert something positive)...." are weak. Without real substance.
The right cannot win without the middle. Everyone knows this. Question, does Desantis appeal to moderate voters? Feel free to see how he polls with Independents. It ain't pretty. The left only has to make this about women's rights. I think that issue alone will carry the WH and possibly Congress. I shake my head all the time.
It is starting to backfire. Look at the School Board member whose kid was offended by a gay character. She(board member) was excoriated by the locals. Like someone said...it was the outrage du jour. Then you start to get these incidents of unintended consequences. The statue of David? It makes the right look like anti-art, anti-science and anti-intellectual. Not everyone is believer.
Oracle's Larry Ellison prepares to back Tim Scott campaign (cnbc.com) Oracle co-founder and Republican megadonor Larry Ellison is preparing to spend millions of dollars backing Sen. Tim Scott's run for president. The plans have been in motion since the 2022 midterms, when Ellison donated $30 million to a pro-Scott super PAC, Opportunity Matters Fund, according to people familiar with the Oracle executive chairman's plans. People who declined to be named for this story did so in order to speak freely about private planning and deliberations. Another veteran Republican fundraiser told CNBC that Ellison is already planning to donate up to $10 million to the TIM PAC in the early going of Scott's run. Ellison has signaled to allies that he could give at least between $20 million and $30 million more this cycle, this person said. Ellison admires Scott a great deal for the senator's strong support for Israel, according to a lobbyist who's worked with Oracle and has known Ellison for years.
Throwing good money after bad IMHO. There’s a lot to celebrate about Scott’s presidential run. He has an all-American story to tell, he’s a black man running in a party that appears to be reluctant to elect POC to congress, and he has a positive message saying the United States is the greatest country on Earth, unlike others in the race who talk about what a disaster our country is. Those of us on the left celebrate his entering the race, and celebrate the first step the Republican Party is taking in this effort to be inclusive. Unfortunately most republicans aren’t in the mood for the Happy Warrior, preferring to go with someone basing their campaign on grievance instead.
