My guess is that the motivation for the attack wasn't based on Connolly's political positions but rather the attacker was a constituent of Connolly's who requested assistance from Connolly's office involving a personal issue and didn't feel that his concerns were being addressed. Just a guess some possibilities include the denial of an application for federal benefits like Social Security Disability or Veterans benefits; the termination of federal employment; or threats and/or action by the IRS over unpaid taxes.

My dad still lives there, in Vienna. More immigrants, but still very wealthy and relatively low crime. I think VA is right, this probably won’t be a political wing nut, just someone mad over their own case, or even a domestic dispute of some kind. Maybe someone with mentwl issues too. We will find out soon enough though.
Name sounds Vietnamese. There were a couple Vietnamese-Americans involved in Trumps insurrection, oddly enough. Stuff like that just baffles me. Although it seems they don’t yet know this guys motive, whether a deranged political attack or something else.
The Paul Pelosi attack was a mix of a mentally ill guy going down far right rabbit holes. That wouldn’t be surprising here either.

Sounds like a MAGA to me wanting to be freed from the world of books. Wonder why he just didn’t move to Florida where it’s against the law to read the books he wants freedom from. Bad C.I.A! Bad bad C.I.A.!
Great, now liberals will demand banning of bats and conservatives will want the case thrown out because there was too much pine tar on the bat.
