I agree. He might turn out to be a good pickup. I hope he is. I got slammed for saying he was recruited by lower tier teams. He also was a two star out of high school. I'll probably get slammed for that as well.
Gotta get Maccuzza back. If we do, this is a good line. BUT Gotta get an edge if even for depth and a wide receiver.
Is it true that he had zero sacks in pass protection last year? Even at that lower level, that is impressive, if true. Would suggest he can fill in for some snaps at worst. Keeping 8 OL who can contribute healthy through the year is challenging for any team.
Seems like I heard here that we had about five slots open post-spring. With the addition of Hudson and Moten, I guess that's down to three now, with one targeting QB depth? I'm also curious why we haven't seen the last four signees (Wilson, Johnson, Hill, and Jones) enroll yet with Summer A having started on May 9th. There are some key guys in that group.
with 1 year left, I don't think this guy is coming to play backup minutes.(thought stolen from another article)
Probably not going to work out great for us if he's starting at left tackle against Georgia, but it's good to have big, experienced, flexible depth. Offensive line is a tough position -- players get hurt, and you need someone who can capably step up in a pinch.
I'm glad that we're getting him, but one shouldn't get slammed for speaking the truth. We stole the guy from USF and his other offers were not exactly world-beaters.
Are you really playing the victim card?!? SMH- Anyway, he was rated just below O'Cyrus Torrence & Kyle Trask.... Did you bellyache about them, too? And, how relevant is his 2018 HS ranking in 2023? Is his transfer ranking still "two star"?
If it makes you happy he is the greatest player ever signed. I never bellyached about anything. I stated a fact not opinion about who recruited him and his high school rating. End of story.
Time will tell if it is a good choice or not. But Napier sees something in him. We are looking for 2024 anyway.
He's done very well at FIU (on Conference USA watch lists and high grades from PFF)and has tons of experience including success in the power running game. He's got the size our coaches covet and our evaluation guys went through all the college tape. He comes in highly motivated to leave his mark on game SEC game film in his final year. If he can win the RT position we could shift George inside and have some nice depth. Now, let's see how all that carries over at Florida[/QUOTE]
