Western Carolina commencement is tomorrow. I have zero insider info on this, just always had a hunch he'd be coming right after he graduates. CBN said we're def taking another QB, and that they're on it.. Really doubtful it's a HS QB, and I think any QB in the portal would have already decided on UF if they were coming. Just saying... Edit: Looking a little closer, all the top QB's in the portal are committed. Only a few lower level guys remain. Again, I doubt we take another HS QB....so it "must" be a grad transfer, IMO.
McCall is the QB at Coastal Carolina, which looks like it had commencement May 4-6. I’m thinking he does not end up a Gator, but there’s always hope
Do tell... It's not a state secret. If we have zero chance of landing him then what's the secret about him? Or we really do still have a chance and that's why you're not talking.
Well, no offense to Austin, but that really isn't a plan at all. Even if DJ was available this fall, he wouldn't be the answer. We need a plug and play who has experience. True freshmen can almost never answer that call. Disappointing. I'm trying to be optimistic. But it is hard for me to imagine a successful season without someone under center who is much better than who we have on the roster right now. Esp with our brutal schedule. Unless we can figure out how to win, Muschamp style, which was atrocious to watch.
The rumor I read on the Boards here is that he will not actually graduate from Coastal Carolina, and thus won’t be eligible to be a grad transfer here.
There is no such person available who can learn the offense in fall camp and make it work. You are looking for a unicorn. Even Bama has not found that unicorn. Bama is going to have to make the pieces around QB make the difference. Accept that Mertz is an experienced and quality QB who we are lucky to have and base your expectations on and get some enjoyment in how the whole team develops together over the season. We have the hardest schedule in the country and were never going to win the conference this year. Just enjoy the ride.
