Not saying that the guy isn't a male to female transgender since I do not know what's in his/her head although considering that transgendered persons mentally identify with the gender to which they are or have transitioned and cases in which males sexually assault females are considerably more common than cases in which women sexually assault other women the subject of the story sounds more like a guy pretending to be a woman than a person with the condition of gender dysphoria.

Obviously there have been times when a man with bad intentions snuck into a women's restroom in the past. If someone saw them entering, they would have likely stopped them or alerted others. Now if you alert others, you are labeled transphobic.

I’m going to agree with you actually.
Sometimes we can learn from threads. As this one went on, I began looking at it differently.
I’ll cease with the trans threads as well. I feel sorry for them and wish no harm.
I also worry about the potential effects they could have on my children.
    That’s where this comes from.

No. What is says is that a rapist took a political trend that has been front and center for over a year now and is using it as cover for his rapist tendencies. Is is a coincidence that all these shooters "now" identify as Trans too? No. They're using it as cover. Yet another reason why this issue needs to die a quick death now.

Actually, this is much more likely to happen than a man being stopped from entering a women's restroom.
Woman mistaken for transgender harassed in Walmart bathroom
Woman mistaken for a man settles NY lawsuit
Women are getting harassed in bathrooms because of anti-transgender hysteria
    or even this
Woman booked into Miami men's jail after being wrongly deemed transgender is suing
Interestingly according to one study men are more concerned about male-to-female transgendered persons using women's restrooms than are other women. Perhaps not all that surprising but completely counter-intuitive.

I guess it depends on the behavior. As long as you're not trying to look at my junk, I'm not going to notice or pay attention to you. I don't know, maybe you are different, but I tend to keep to myself in the bathroom.

He's not trans. He's using that as cover. I'd bet my life on it.

I was responding to a question about men with bad intentions going into women's bathrooms. Not sure how your response is relevant.

There's a large difference between "persecution" and understanding that what Lia Thompson did was straight up poaching. Look, I'll call you by whatever pronoun you want, but we're not going to just rewrite the rules of society so you can feel validated in your life choices. That was poaching and anyone with a brain can see it for what it is. Either way, I can't believe we are wasting our time on issues like this when we're literally right in the middle of a seminal point in human history.

People who post individual stories about a trans person raping someone or shooting up a school aren't responsible for prejudicial violence against trans people any more than people who post about George Floyd are responsible for violence against cops.

To me, the takeaway from the OP is not that trans people pose this disproportionate harm to others, but that people, including rapists, can exploit policy by claiming to be trans to try and be incarcerated with women. If we're not there already, we're not far off from it. And that presents a real problem.

I guess my point is that someone who is truly transgender wouldn't be a problem so long as they stick to their business and don't do creepy shit. I don't know about you, but I kind of go out of my way to ignore people in public restrooms, so unless they're doing something creepy and unusual (Like go to the urinal next to me when there are others open), I'm not going to notice. Throw in that women's bathrooms have an additional layer (stalls) of privacy, this rule would seem to apply there too.

I deleted my post in response to this. You are being fair and I don't want to make more of this than is there.
I can't argue with any parent looking out for their child, even if I think it's wasted worry on your part. The statistics tell us all about rapists and sadly, most look and gender the same as I.
I do appreciate that this is THE most important issue for you though.

So you're proposing that someone intent on rape or other nefarious purposes is going into a restroom with people around the restroom entrance, who would be able to witness the attempted rapist entering, but no one would say anything because of cultural pressure to allow for actual transgendered people to use their preferred public restroom?

Rape committed by strangers is already unlikely at <20% of estimated rape cases, so the odds of that scenario seem so astronomically low for the amount of fear and anxiety it creates. And in the exceptionally rare event that it would happen, I don't think restrictions for transgender access is stopping such a man from going into that restroom to rape someone, whatever it takes. My guess is that such a man is more likely to try sneaking in when no one is around and waiting in a stall for a victim, regardless of laws and sentiments around transgender people.

Always said that Thompson is the best evidence against Thompson. Most likely a decent men's swimmer (he was on a D1 team) and took the meds that are supposed to even the odds. Yet look at the times. Then consider that the girls "she" was swimming against are probably world-class, and yet "she" still dominated. Clearly there is a huge advantage. And, clearly, this is no different than 16yos playing in the 13yo division.

Yes, someone who truly identifies as a woman. A man with bad intentions isn't going to be deterred by individual stalls. The specific question I was answering was ..."What actually stopped a man with bad intentions from entering a women's restroom 10 or 20 years ago?" He wasn't asking about trans women who just wanted to use the bathroom.

I found it interesting that everyone in this thread used male pronouns, while the news article and the court system used female pronouns. I don't know if that means nobody here believes he's trans or that they just don't care about pronouns when you are a rapist. Now, this guy looks nothing like a woman. If you saw him going into a women's bathroom would you assume he was trans and do nothing? FYI...this particular story was not about a bathroom rape. The discussion went off on a tangent.

    It's not just about height.

It's about muscle mass, bone structure, body composition... and socially how there are three girls right next to him posing for their own picture as though THEY know who the real winners are. And they're right. It's a complete farce he was allowed to compete with them.

Don't you often tout in gun threads that criminals won't follow any gun restriction laws? Why would would-be rapists be any different? Ambush predators (what I would qualify most rapists as) will use the element of surprise to their advantage over a victim. If they are committed to raping a stranger (again, the stark minority of rape cases), they're going to find the way to create that opportunity for themselves, regardless of transgender policies.

I would do nothing if it was just him alone. Again, I'd need to see other suspicious clues before I alerted anyone, like following someone (younger perhaps) in. Certainly, if he was trying to peak in stalls, uses mirrors, etc. there are going to be problems. I'd be torn as to whether I'd just rush in there and confront him. Just being honest here.
