To be fair, people change. I know for a fact I was more libertarian say in 2017 than I am now. And I still think an ideal government is one where the government's role is dramatically reduced and both sides are forced to adhere to that narrow standard. I just don't think we're there right now. People's views on policy change over time.
You dont have to convince me libertarianism is a waiting room of sorts, on the one you have recovering conservatives who cant bear to identify as liberal, on the other you have budding theocrats, authoritarians and fascists, and maybe some people just there for the guiltless hedonism.
You can safely drop the “apparently” from your post. I asked him and he told me that he is very smart. So there we have it settled.
I miss Verti the most. She left after trump was elected. I’m on the conservative side but have to admit that the liberals here bring the links to back up their opinions. It is rather one sided but chock full of information.
How many people actually know their IQ? I have no idea what mine is. One thing I do know is I’m not a rocket surgeon.
It was so embarrasing for dax4 he had to change his handle and come back with another identity to shake the association.
Agree - Look at the Republican Party, the party of abolitionists and "Freedom". Today? Donald Trump, The overthrow of Democracy and of course send people of color, women and non Christians to...........well, prison, gulag .................... or anywhere but here.
I was the first to call him out on it and he tried denying it. The use of "LMAO!!!" and "chit" were dead giveaways.
Honestly, he's the only guy I've ever seen do it. And by "seen do it," I mean I seent him do it over and over and over.
I agree it would be nice to have more a right wing intellectual presence, but I participated in the other board for many years until I was kicked off and even there it was my perspective that there were only a few Republican leaning posters who consistently argued issues on their merits, facts and logic. I am kind of in the middle around here but I was on my own over there on near 100% of issues. It just kept getting worse, especially when the nutjobs here went over there. I’ve since seen posts that were made by the right wing moderator over there telling some of the crazy wing nuts to calm it down. I think the post 1/6 hysteria was one of the reasons he took it private. I recall someone bragging that they had a relative at 1/6 the day before.
As frustrating as Too Hot sometimes is, it is very much where we are as culture. The fringes on both sides get more air time then is warranted by their number and opinions. But both fringes are excellent and shameless self promoters and they can rely on the other fringe to give their ridiculous positions merit.
Two things to remember: 1. Opinions are like belly buttons - everybody has one. 2. Sacred cows make the best burgers...
