I haven’t seen any more recent figures , but respect for the US increased greatly when Biden took office. It had fallen badly under trump

It seems obvious to me that Biden has had an eye job. His constant squint is a result of the surgery. He’s like so many older celebrities who have plastic surgery to try to look young again and it does nothing but ruin their looks. But they keep right on doing it. In the case of an eye job, though, it can be performed because of eye trouble, such as old-age drooping eyelids, etc., and not just vanity.

What a glaring mistake. That's supposed to say "Trump," not "Biden."

I don't see anything wrong with Biden's eyelid range of motion or function, but I'll bust out the protractor next time he's giving a speech.

Perhaps for the 1000th time here someone else can post the video of Trump mangling the English language.

I disagree. When republicans felt it was more important to appease the NRA than to protect children in schools after Sandy Hook, it became obvious to me the republicans placed more importance on guns than the lives of children.

Interesting that I didn’t make that post but you’re quoting it. Sorry but I must report this post.

Placing more importance on guns than the lives of children is a slightly different claim, but it still implies that there are no positive impacts to gun ownership. Similarly, knowing that car accidents often kill children, we might use this same reasoning to conclude that anyone who supports the right to drive cares more about cars than the lives of children. However, this would obviously be an overly simplistic account of the pro-driving viewpoint. I am not a gun person myself, but I know that there are many different aspects that go into supporting the second amendment.

But we don't prohibit every activity or product that is potentially harmful to children. Statements like that mirror anti-drug arguments that conservatives make. Because harm to children arouses visceral fear, it is hoped that people will overestimate the risk associated with the activity.

I’m sure British folk thought the colonies should stay in line back in the 1770’s. Why do I care if somebody in Paris or Berlin respects us?

There’s child safety caps on medicine bottles, protective devices on kitchen cabinet doors and electrical outlets, and laws requiring child safety seats in cars. We do it for other things but guns get a pass.

Cars are used for transportation and require child safety seats and/or seatbelts for children. Guns have an entirely different purpose, to fire a metal projectile at a speed so great that it can destroy a young body. Further, not everyone can drive which requires a license, proof of ownership, insurance, and there are strict rules governing the operation of a car.

And yet he managed to beat Trump in 2020 by almost 8 million votes and will probably do so again. And let's not forget that when he was on the same stage with the other guy he did rather well for a doddering old fool.
Poll: Majority of viewers say Biden won final debate
Edit: Not sure why it's "Off-topic" since it was a direct response to a post implying that Biden is incapable of delivering a coherent speech specifically the statement that Joe Biden gave a speech is the equivalent to an April Fool's joke.

Also, all car accidents that I’ve ever heard of were not planned, deliberate killings. (Terrorists driving cars into crowds are of course not accidents.) Comparing car accidents to school massacres is apples and oranges to say the least.
