and as the bill comes due for a failed attempt to reform home insurance people are trying to figure out if they can afford to stay in their homes

Florida insurance crisis has some homeowners eyeing an exit: ‘I almost had a heart attack’ (msn.com)

There are immeasurable reasons that homeowners choose the place they call home. A safe haven, a sanctuary, a retreat. But the dream of homeownership and the stability it provides for many now feels uncertain because of the insurance crisis in Florida.

Homeowners are finding their premiums are going up two- or three-fold. Some are being suddenly dropped by their provider and forced to find new coverage, and others are learning that some providers are extremely picky about who they will cover or require a laundry list of fixes.
    ....................................................................
With Universal, their insurance premium was around $3,200. When she went with Citizens, her new premium was nearly three times that amount, but she hadn't realized it because she pays for the mortgage, property taxes and insurance through an escrow account. In February, she was notified that this year's premium would go up to $9,700, she said, and that the escrow account would be short $4,000.
    ........................................................................
He would know. He has sat on the condo board as president or treasurer for more than a decade and dealt first-hand with decisions on the building’s insurance. Four years ago, property insurance for their 66-unit building was $80,000, he said. Now, it’s more than $300,000.

Insurance in Florida is a disaster. No pun intended.

    This is deeply amusing.

DESatan is not a serious person. Evil? Yes. Corrupt no doubt. Dangerous? Not any more, his 15 minutes of Fame are over. He doesn’t get a sniff at the nomination. Trump is playing him like a fiddle (I’m actually impressed) and I’m going on record that if the DemoncRAT’s but up a remotely credible candidate he’ll lose his reelection.

but hey, woke is dying, teachers are quitting, book shelves are being stripped, cops, fire and rescue, etc have lost use of their drones, and it will soon be illegal for farmers to bus their labor to their fields or churches to provide transportation for immigrants to church or health clinics, all while we spend millions in legal fees to penalize disney for daring to question DeS.

I wish she'd call in the Legislature to figure out why Floridians are drowning in homeowner insurance increases

Interesting piece about a former DeSantis aide who is now working for Trump. DeSantis fired her because he's a paranoid narcissist, so she found another paranoid narcissist to work for. Everyone in this story is awful.

DeSantis Tried to Bury Her. Now She’s Helping Trump Try to Bury Him.

Ms. Wiles, describing the entire experience to friends as bewildering and bizarre, assured anyone who would listen that she was not the source of a leak that would plainly damage her standing with a boss who prized discretion.

The DeSantises would not hear it. The governor cited the article to others as a final straw.
“It’s her,” he repeated. “It’s her.”

Immediately, Mr. DeSantis made it known among state power brokers that Mr. Ballard’s firm would lose favor with his office if Ms. Wiles remained there, according to people who spoke with the governor.

Mr. Ballard has denied being strong-armed. Days after the Tampa Bay Times article, Ms. Wiles said she was leaving Ballard Partners “due to a nagging health issue.”

DeS is not mentally fit to hold office. That level of paranoia and scorched earth vindictiveness is not indicative of a mentally stable person

Agreed. We really see it in the Disney mess too. He simply can not allow Disney to defy him. It's insane.

It's been obvious as far back as when he fired the broward school board so his picks coukd fire the superintendent for not following his covid rules. He isn't right in the head

Seems that's one characteristic that both DeSantis and Trump have in common. Although it's more extreme in Trump Meatball Ron also behaves as if he is afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. As with the Dear Leader with the orange complexion DeSantis refuses to accept that he has lost.

Gov Desantis enters the battle with bud light for being too gay or too woke or whatever in the ongoing Great Culture War. This war is a key platform for his governorship.

I think BL sponsored a Trans “influencer” on TT(?).

Pretty sure I recall seeing pictures of Caitlyn Jenner and other transgender women who were welcomed over the years. I wonder if Bud Light would have been okay if Mulvaney had a bunch of guns around her or maybe a MAGA hat?
