Holy baskets! Sports radio this week was blasting the Iowa/ SC game more than the men's FF. Apparently it was billed as the highest-rated women's game ever, due to the matchup between the wonderkind Ms. Clark vs. the undefeated 36-0 Lady Gamecocks. Well Ms. Clark showed out scoring 41 pts, earning her team a spot in the NC game. In other news, the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's team will go up against a similar juggernaut tomorrow for the DII championship. The Bulldogs don't have a Clark, so we can only hope that they get an extraordinary team effort against Goliath.
Clark is the real deal. She was off somewhat on her 3-point shots and still scored 41 points. The announcers said she scored or assisted on every point scored by Iowa in the 4th Quarter.
I followed the score online and switched to ESPN to stream the last 2:45–which took about 15 minutes in real time. She was something, but also showed my concern about wbb. She was so far above everyone else no one on her team made a contribution, and the same with Boston. I don’t think there was a second option.
Recorded and watched with my grandson this morning. It was amazing the number of fouls South Carolina was getting away with on their rebounding and put back attempts and the relatively minor fouls called against Iowa on the other end. Without Clark playing phenomenal to the end USCe would have stayed undefeated and playing for back-to-back championships. Very glad they'll be watching on TV now.
Not sure how you don’t double team her. On of their other guards had 1 shot and wasn’t going to score. girl can flat out ball. Even her misses were impressive.
It has been fun to watch this team this year! Ans that is unusual for me to say about a Hawkeye team!! CC leads the country in points and assists per game. Her presence also allows other players to get free. She has done things that no player before--M or W--has. Against Louisville she had a 40 point triple double--never before in either tournament. Last night her points were the most in a final four game, either sex, since 1978 and the most on the women's side. Additionally, she spends 45 minutes to an hour after every game with the kids and regularly makes trips to the now infamous children's hospital at Iowa. She is one of those players we would love to have at Florida!
I think teams have tried during the year. They also faced a tougher schedule that SC did. SEC basketball was down this year while b10 was up.
I watched 3 quarters of the VT-LSU game and had to go. Does anyone else think the clown suit worn by the LSU couch is a bit disrespectful? Maybe I'm just old. Good thing she didn't walk across my yard or I would holler at her. Looks like I missed the best game.
I thought the outfit was gaudy and seemed out of place for a basketball game. Why did you think it was disrespectful?
I mentioned to my wife that they were beating each other up under the basket and it made my wonder why more fouls weren't called like it men's basketball. I wish our team could shoot foul shots like most of the women!
It was toned down from her Elite 8 outfit. Some of her outfits are "calm" others are outlandish. I can't remember if she wore anything similar at the CWS in 17 when we were beating her son and his lsu teammates. I remember hearing she was loud and obnoxious. Here is a series of pics of some of her outfits: Kim Mulkey sideline fit includes shiny jacket for LSU Elite Eight game
