School leadership provided a statement. What other information are you looking for?

"To avoid a disruptive situation, Mr. Humphries decided to cancel class early in what he believed was a prudent move. He is working with his supervisors on alternative ways to handle such potential problems to ensure future classes can continue.”

And University of Florida student activity fees were used to pay Trump, jr and Kimberly Guillfoyle $50,000 to speak at UF. Talk about discomfort. Such a curious world.

True, but for me it depends on age and environment. College is a great place to stretch one’s ideas and comfort level.

Well I could throw in the fact that I’ve personally counseled several gay students. But I’m not going to say I’m an expert on the matter.

There is a lot we don’t know. We have no clue what the student’s reasons were that may have caused the class to cross a line the professor felt was unacceptable. But apparently you do know?

Bless your heart. You continue to spew things out of ignorance. You don’t know the facts. The irony.

The difference is I don’t claim/infer to know the facts. Unlike you. But you are good at spewing ignorance.

The proper response from the professor and any professor should have been:

I understand and empathize with your discomfort. You are welcome not to attend today's lecture because you are participating in your education by choice. But understand that the material covered will be on the exam and a reasonable level of understanding will be expected to pass this class. How can I better help you with this matter?

In a normal world? Absolutely. Unfortunately, there is the possibility of a criminal felony charge hanging over peoples’ heads as they try to navigate this nonsense.

LOL, students are only whiny snowflakes when it suits their agenda...happens constantly with speakers that don't toe the lib line.

Agreed. However the general information still could lead to the professors decision being the correct one. We do not know but the student could have been disrupting and taking it into class time leading to the decision. If that is the case…building on your point. The student should be removed from the class and given a Failing grade imo.

It is just interesting that some seem to think they know what happened.

Here is an interesting perspective from someone who came from outside the U.S. She claims that the "woke" culture in Columbia's Human Rights program is so bad that she has been dismissed as being incapable of understanding oppression, even though she was in fact, in her earlier life, a slave. She says the level of indoctrination is worse than she received as a child in North Korea. She was accused of having white privilege, because she can (almost/sort of) pass for white. Sounds like her classmates and/or professors missed an opportunity to learn from her.

'Woke' US schools scarier than North Korea, says defector

Poor student was probably uncomfortable hearing about how a white guy blew Martin Luther King's head off, and cringed when he learned how white people sicced dogs and sprayed fire hoses on black students trying to go to school, and was aghast at how black people had to drink from separate fountains and swim in separate swimming pools. In other words, he was uncomfortable learning about the truth. Luckily for him and other snowflakes like him, Florida politicians are in the midst of revising those Civil Rights lectures to say "Black people went through a few struggles but then they got equality and lived happily ever after."

You know, I always try to be understanding of what other people say/do and be respectful of others' opinions if it's different, but sometimes I just can't do it. Canceling a lecture because one student feels not good about something is just ridiculous. And it's not just something; it's a lecture on a very important thing. But I can understand why it was done; otherwise, that student would have complained that he is not respected and is forced to do something that conflicts with their beliefs and position.
