NEWS: Billy Gonzales Coming Back As WR Coach

That is good news!

His recruiting wasn’t over the top but our receivers seemed to develop really well under his guidance. He has a good crop to start with and Lagway coming to help him recruit.

Gonzales has coached at Florida twice previously both in the same role he will fill for Napier.

He’ll have our WRs blocking and running routes well. If I recall correctly, he had our WRs getting separation, in the past too. He was also recruiting coordinator at UF. Pretty sure he’s done a solid job at UF, all in all, during his time.

I wonder if these days coaches just rent? Man, they sure move around a lot. Ferentz, Paterno, Blobby were at their schools it seemed for decades-then again, head coaches, but still...

Crazy this will be the third time he has had the opportunity to coach Andre Debose. Hopefully he can turn him into a first rounder before his eligibility is gone.

 

I feel really good about this hire for several reasons. Glad CBN is hiring someone outside of his circle, glad it’s Billy Gonzalez and glad he likes Gainesville enough to return for a third time.
