Just read where Desmond Watson's weight is at 449 lbs. Sound like his slimming efforts have had a setback. It's hard to imagine he has replaced his bad weight with muscle at that weight. I would like to see him under 400.

Hopefully someone just hit the wrong button.

That is ... a big man. Muscle is always better than fat but I can't imagine he could have added that any anything better than 50/50.

That said, it's spring, still time to get into football shape.

Desmond told the coaches he was just a biscuit over 400. o_O

    Same story; different year.

Seems pretty obvious to me: He isn't going to lose weight, and the coaches are (again) going to accept that.

Yep, and that is on young Desmond. There is NO WAY IN H that an SEC Strength and Conditioning Staff doesn't know enough of about what is going on to get that young man "SUBSTANTIALLY" below 400 lbs.

    Not good, and no excuse.

Recently read somewhere else that he'd lost something like 40 pounds.

There is a podcast from 2/12 where DW states he is down to 385. The current roster has an asterisk stating the weights are current as of 2/27 has him listed at 449. I hope it's a typo.
If it isn't a typo then DW has some serious explaining to do to the nutritional staff.

Also if he can't keep his weight down, he is costing himself big money in the NFL.
If he can't be a 3 down player on a consistent basis he will be passed over. The NFL game is faster from a player and a timing(between downs) standpoint.

There is no one active over 400 listed in the NFL. There are a dozen or so listed around the 360-380 range and the majority of them are offensive linemen.

Also if a running clock on first downs is approved for the 2023 season, it will be more difficult to get guys on and off the field for substitutions.

I hope the asterisk doesn't mean that the scale only goes to 450 and he is beyond that.

Curious that he can power clean over 335 at that weight that means he able to move that weight around pretty good as most of the time lineman are not able to power clean heavy.

All this speculation and worry and I'm over here thinking when have spring numbers meant anything? I'll wait and see what the dude looks like before I question his discipline or the staffs ability to keep him in shape.

Normally I would agree but we are now in yr 3 and his weight is still an issue.
