How do you pick the top 2? Not by uneven records, you’d have to vote for ranking. One team could play all the good teams and another play none. That’s why division winners in the nfl make the playoffs regardless of record.

I like harder games. You become the best by beating the best.

As do I but they all need to be hard, for all teams. No easy paths created by dodging competition. Sec teams get benefit of doubt already because we play tougher games.

Or in our case you start out each year with a minimum of 4 losses (relative to where our program is currently). Throw in FSU and you would have the toughest schedule in the country every year.

We need to have our team develop some chemistry and confidence and you don't do that by losing to Bama and UGAG by 30 points each year.

Best 2 SEC records, the team left out will probably be ok with it because they will probably be in the playoffs anyway and not have to play an extra game.

Best two records probably won’t get the two best teams and tiebreaker rules to straighten out the mess.

We were 6-6 going into the bowl. Three of those were free games. It wasn’t Georgia beating us by 30that made us suck last year.

I wonder if Cocktail Party in Jax will survive in the new format? Great tradition, but none of the decision makers seem to care about traditions when it comes to all of the conf realignment. All about $$$.

I completely agree. In my view the conference never should have added Missouri and aTm. It was too big and unmanageable at that point.

I'm a Tennessee fan and it would appear that it's highly likely we'll no longer play Florida every year, along with Georgia and South Carolina. I enjoyed all those games. I realize we're a long way from the high point of the UT-UF rivalry as both schools haven't really been at their potential for some time. As someone who was a teenager in the 90s, the idea of not playing Florida every year is beyond strange.

How do you guys feel about the possibility of losing the LSU and Tennessee games on an annual basis? The LSU-UF game always had some fun and crazy results. I'd hate to see it go.

I think the worst part of the new setup is that it will be very hard to develop and maintain rivalries under this format. You need annual games to build the storyline. Every other year is better than nothing but it feels like there will be a void.

Yes hyperion, I too think traditional games should remain a big part of college football. Florida vs Tennessee became special in the 90’s and still has a feel about it.
I attended the game in 2004 at Neyland and it was/is a great venue: night game with rowdy crowd, checkerboard end zones and tailgating with Vol fans on the banks of the Tennessee River.
We had the opportunity to win that game until Dallas Baker retaliated with a push after a Vol CB nearly took his head off after the play. Cost us 15 yards and took us out of field goal range. Lost 30-28, and no, I am not blaming the loss on the officiating. Both teams played well enough to win but I was sick that we lost that way.

9 sec games would make for some consistently interesting Saturdays.
