UPDATE: I won’t be updating this anymore as the odds of a bid are now unrealistic. If we go on a winning streak to end the year I’ll revive it. Hope it entertained some!
Thursday, February 2, 2023 Results #77 Wisconsin @ #29 Ohio State: Both are firmly on the bubble. OSU has a horrible record, but great NET. Wisconsin has an okay record & horrible NET. This one probably won’t matter too much either way, but if OSU wins it’s only a Q2 win for them, so I’m going to say Go Buckeyes? Result: UW won #214 Oregon State @ #65 Arizona State: ASU is sitting right next to us at this point. Would be a horrid loss. Go Beavers. Result: ASU won #10 Arizona @ #57 Oregon: UA is easily in and this would be a win that probably puts us and Oregon about even. Go Wildcats. Result: UA won #120 Stanford @ #50 Utah: Utah is behind us right now, but the Pac-12 is bad enough they could stockpile wins. Go Cardinal. Result: Stanford won #83 Michigan @ #49 Northwestern: NW has accumulated four Q1 wins, this wouldn’t be one, but we need them to lose quite a few to pass them. Go Wolverines. Result: UM won
Oregon plays at Arizona State on Saturday Night. A true, bubblicious game. Winner picks up a decent win. Loser will be looking at an uphill battle the rest of the season.
Friday, February 3, 2023 Results #21 Boise State and #27 San Diego State: The computer love Boise, but a lack of Q1 wins (2) has them still teetering on being solidly in. Go Aztecs. Result: SDSU won #154 Air Force @ #34 Nevada: Nevada has put together a pretty good resume, but a couple bad losses and we could pass them. Go Falcons. Result: Nevada won
I guess in a way, we have to watch some SEC teams also. If we win tonight, we'd be tied with Auburn, though they win head-to-head and we don't play again. A&M lost bigly at Arkansas earlier this week. Doubt they'll lose to UGA tonight. But they are within reach. 7 of their remaining games are against the upper half of SEC. If they lay a few eggs...ok, maybe several omelettes.
Horrible day Saturday, February 4, 2023 8:30---#41 Florida @ #31 Kentucky: Go Gators. Result: UK won 2:00---#16 TCU @ #39 Oklahoma State: We have nearly identical resumes with OSU. Go Horned Frogs. Result: OSU won 2:00---#97 Tulane @ #42 Memphis: The Tigers have lots of Q2 wins, but just one Q1 win. Lose a few more and they’ll be out. Go Green Wave. Result: Tulane won 3:30---#27 Arkansas @ #284 South Carolina: UA somehow has found themselves almost out of a bye. This is a brutal loss if it happens and does nothing for your resume if you win. Go Cocks. Result: UA won 6:00---#45 Missouri @ #49 Mississippi State: MSU is one of our Q1 wins, but also a threat to us if they string together wins. Go Tigers. Result: MSU won. 8:00---#24 West Virginia @ #56 Oklahoma: I think WVU is more of a sure thing (but aren’t a sure thing) than OU. I know OU beat us, but WVU winning would help more IMO, close call, but Go Mountaineers. Result: WVU won 8:00---#32 Utah State @ #133 Colorado State: USU has zero Q1 wins, so despite great computer numbers, they’re on the bubble. Dropping this one would help drop their computer numbers. Go Rams. Result: USU won 8:30---#116 Georgia @ #48 Texas A&M: TAMU beat us twice so we should cheer for them, but they are sitting right next to us right now. Go Bulldogs. Result: TAMU won 9:30---#123 Washington @ #52 USC: Trojans are more teetering on getting a bye or not, but with a great finish we can pass them. Go Huskies. Result: USC won 10:00---#59 Oregon @ #63 Arizona State: I honestly don’t know, they are so close to each other, but a little behind us. For UO it’s a Q1 win, for ASU it’s a Q2, so I’ll say Go Sun Devils. Result: UO won
Sunday, February 5, 2023 12:00---#164 Depaul @ #52 Seton Hall: SHU is right on our heels, if not even. Go Blue Demons. Result: SHU won 4:30---#54 Penn State @ #99 Nebraska: PSU is probably behind us, but not by much. Go Cornhuskers. Result: NU won 6:30---#57 Northwestern @ #68 Wisconsin: These two are very close and in direct competition with us. I think UW is more solid due to NW's awful OOC schedule, but this is a tough call. Go Badgers. Result: NU won
Tuesday, February 7, 2023 7:00---#44 North Carolina @ #67 Wake Forest: UNC is decently solidly in & Wake stopped the bleeding this weekend, but has lots of work to do. Go Tar Heels. Result: WF won 7:00---#30 Auburn @ #41 Texas A&M: Depending on how AU finishes, this could be a Q1 win for TAMU. TAMU's resume is essentially ours, but slightly better and they are 2-0 against us. We need them to crash and burn. Go Tigers. Result: TAMU won 9:00---#29 Arkansas @ #31 Kentucky: Both are ahead of us, both have very similar resumes. I always root for not giving another bubble team a Q1 win. Gross, but Go Wildcats. Result: UA won 10:30---#34 Nevada @ #39 New Mexico: Same as Arkansas/Kentucky. Go Lobos. Result: Nevada won
great summary. Thanks. Now make it better by coloring bad outcomes in red and good in green. Thank you. Lol
shazam! Red and green. Now my feeble mind can judge in moments if gator hoops tourney chances went up or down.
Why does Lunardi have seven ACC teams in the field? Kenpom has them as the sixth rated conference behind the Pac 12 by a lot. And Lunardi has only three Pac 12 teams in.
