I hope I am wrong but I don't think it is good news. Howard just announced on his twitter his good bye's to LSU which is a sign he has made his decision. I know he visited our coaches today at his home but he has not visited our campus. I read this as he gave the Gators due consideration but he was not swayed from wherever he was already leaning. Unless he has a visit scheduled tomorrow to UF I don't think he is coming our way. I think the twitter message to LSU will shortly be followed by his announcement of where he is going. Once again, hope I am wrong.
as pointed out in another thread, the news possibly is Asa Martin transferring to UF. Ex Miami, Auburn, and Memphis RB "Martin signed with Auburn out of high school and played in five games mostly on special teams as a true freshman in 2018. Then-Auburn coach Gus Malzahn later admitted the Tigers planned to play Martin in only four games that season in order to preserve his redshirt year, but staffers apparently miscounted and played him in five. Martin then transferred to Miami, but never played for the Hurricanes before heading to Memphis the following summer. He sat out the 2019 season under NCAA transfer rules, then played as part of the Tigers’ running back rotation the last three seasons."
Never bought into that talk of Howard. Wouldn't mind if it happened, but was never expecting it. We'll see
I think he posted that because today / now he is officially in the portal. LSU had 48 hours to enter him into the portal after Walker advised them. Maybe he officially was added to the portal and he posted this. Just a guess.
Well, If Cormani goes and plays for Deion, he will have the chance to learn from the best non-tackling defender to ever play in the NFL. I can see why he would be drawn to Deion now. Sanders was a horrible tackler and that might be an understatement.
I don’t get that … has Jayden in front of him and Colin Hurley around the corner at Red Stick so hits the portal … to go to Ole Miss?? which already has a transfer in Jaxson Dart, who isn’t exactly dog water, and has a year starting in the system. Not to mention Kiffen likes building through the portal, he could get passed up in a second by someone else. Just like he must think is happening to Dart. Edit: Forgot about Nussemier as well at LSU, def was an overloaded QB room …
Yeah, very well said. This is basically where I'm at too. As much as I would LOVE for us to get Howard, I'm not optimistic.
I'm stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one. It seems to me that the play for Howard signals that we are nearing the end of the line with JR. If that is the case and we fail to land Howard or someone like him, the implications for the QB situation for the next couple seasons are not good. Like you and others, I find it hard to be optimistic about Howard with all the reports we're hearing, or that some other genuinely talented QB is likely to fall into our lap anytime soon. At the moment, I'm just hoping that the self-appointed experts are wrong yet again without having any real reason to believe that they are. Frankly, I'm just hoping that Mertz is better than his time at Wisky would suggest, and that Miller shows some things that I personally haven't seen yet. And if Max Brown is a no-show for Spring practice, I'm afraid he'll likely disappear into the oblivion that awaits many two sport athletes at the major college level. I could be wrong about everything, but no Rashada, no Howard and no Brown is not a happy prospect.
