Kyle Morris was the other QB involved and a starter. Morris transferred to Mississippi College and Matthews was cleared by the NCAA to return. Two walk ons were involved… Brady Ackerman and G.A. Mangus
Shane was involved and admitted to placing small bets, but the University petitioned the NCAA to have him reinstated (actually they petitioned to have both reinstated). Matthews was reinstated, Kyle Morris left.

Matthews and Morris were BOTH reinstated. Shane beat Kyle out for the starting job in 1990. Morris was the backup QB that year and transferred following the 1990 season.
Thank you for the correction, I knew that UF had applied to have them both reinstated, but 1990 was a long time ago. I should have researched it.
I can't really hold it against him that he needed to move to play. I realize it was inconsistent but against our D Daniels looked like what we thought AR would be.
