Good. He was below average at UM in the ACC on one of the worst o lines in that conference for 3-4 straight years. He will be even less successful if a starter in the SEC. As a back up swing tackle…not bad to have. he was just a freshmen in 2019 but for abused by the gators and I think benched in game, can’t get that out of my head
Starting to wonder where our portal OL come from. Ideally they would be here for the spring. Certainly not out of the question that a vet can come in in August and earn the job but much rather have our starters here in April. MM from Baylor is hopefully coming our way as he’d be a great pick up. Losing to Nebraska would be a setback for sure.
I agree that Campbell was not a great prospect. Not sad that we missed on him. But I AM sad that we are missing on guys of his caliber when we are now DESPERATE for immediate help on the OL. What was my primary consolation to what I fear will be a down year at QB for us (a strong OL and running game) now looks to be also a liability. And I don't see many high caliber lineman left for us to pick from to change that narrative. For all of this staffs' strengths in HS recruiting, it doesn't seem like we've got our act together with the portal. Pearsal seems to be the singular high caliber player weve landed (that werent gift wrapped to us from ULL).
I think we just need about 50 more analysts in Billy’s army to complete portal player evaluations in under 6 months and to establish relationships with experienced college players. Only thing holding us back. /s
Hightop Sports did a podcast of the watch party. It may be best big John is headed to the Vols. That was bizarre
Ho hum player goes to school for free and wealthy, dumb alumni pay him a lot of money. Takeaways: Good for the kid. UF needs more wealthy dumb alums to overspend on average players? Or UF needs coaches targeting the best players and alums paying market+ nil deals and why was this kid on our table? Miss the days when kids used to at least act like they wanted a student experience at a university (but, again, don’t blame them for taking salaries).
Many did prefer the facade.I prefer reality and don’t care about the kids bank account. I like watching a good gator football game. This 65-7 shit is pure garbage. If they can’t figure out how to have some sort of competitive balance, I’ll quit watching altogether. What they put on tv tonight was trash. It’s a culmination of exactly where they’ve let the sport go, in the trash. There’s no answers at this point but maybe it’s over. Just have a three team league
Read a reporter on the other board openly talk about a good we missed on due to another high caliber school extending offer quickly, getting him on campus and closing the deal. Kid wanted to be a Gator and seemed to be surprised at the Gator process and how they took a while to do anything. By time they did it was too late. Respected reporter btw.
