I have hope that Golden can make this program a winner before his time is up. Nothing has shown me that he can, but I am a Gator homer, so I always have hope. I was on board for giving him 3 years, but if we finish at the bottom of the conference, I may need to trim that to 2 years. If we don't get to 10 wins, maybe even one.

That said, I am going to root for the Gators every single game and stay out of the game threads for the most part because I would just aggravate people as pissed as I am.

I have no idea where Golden will end up but I don’t believe he’ll be with our program very long. I’ve been going to UF basketball games since 1974 and this is the worst team I’ve ever seen, and appears to be regressing as the season goes along. Not only has he shown to be a poor coach but a poor recruiter as well. Last year we ranked 43rd in recruiting and 11th in the SEC, but right now we’re ranked 81st with a lone three star power forward and last in the SEC.

The thing I hate worse about this team is they give you hope that we’re going to win but then play sloppy, turnover the ball, and commit just enough fouls to lose the game.

Where does he go as it relates to the remainder of the season? I still say the idea of platooning is viable. And you are married to your group, so if you want minutes, your GROUP must play better. I think we have a bunch of individuals who are trying to gain favor. If that means we have to play zone with JJ in the middle to keep his fouls down, then that is also what needs to be done.

Until further notice, I see a team who is playing street ball with nothing structured (at least on offense). I can get behind the idea that Richard is in a real shooting slump. Reeves and Fudge (and probably Kugel) are VERY up and down in looking great and damn disorganized.

Until the players finally get that something mental HAS to change, I think any game will depend on whether the shots magically go in (or the opponent is shooting even worse) or not. aTm, IMO, is our mirror. They weren't a good shooting team, just a better team, team-wise, than we are.

We don’t seem miles off, so I’m not giving up on Golden already. But obviously this season is hugely disappointing. He’s going to have to get some hits in the recruiting trail or portal for sure going forward, especially in the front court where we keep getting manhandled even with Castleton. He’s really got to get some SEC ready big men. We battled in the AU game and had a solid looking plan, the A&M game was more disappointing in that we turned it over a ton and played right into their hands…. at home! Piling up the home losses is what ultimately did White in. You can afford to be .500 or even sub .500 on the road or neutral sites if you take care of business and make home losses rare. But we have lost home court advantage in recent years.

The talent obviously isn’t championship level but at the same time probably better than 7-7. Slight concern on the coaching side is we really had opportunities to be 2-0 and pretty much bungled end game situations to go 0-2.

Not that the coaching is great, but the way I see it fwiw, is, in all the games we've lost the other team's players just seem to be better and every position. Just my $.02.

CMW learned he needed better assistant coaches and got a good one at the end of his Tenure. They have recruited well and he might be in the running for SEC coach of the year, OH MY! Saturday if we lose, the press will have a heyday at Florida administration. Strickland will look bad, they will also start questioning CTG coming from the west coast. How much bad press can the UF Gators get in one school year. We actually don’t know yet!
It feels like we have hit rock bottom in our basketball program. I starting to have bad memories of the Don Devoe reign. I guess anything next year has got to get better, right?

I think it is time Gator boosters, donors, supporters, and university personnel start having a long, hard look at Scott Stricklin.

None of his hand-selected hires appear to be anything more than average.

I may be wrong, I think he would have already used up all his eligibility here.

you just defined coaching - it’s the act of making your players better

success has a thousand fathers, but failure is an orphan - we would be saying how great all these talented players are if they were coached better

Buzz Williams showed this quite clearly last night

UF has had Billy Syndrome in hiring coaches since Jeremy got lucky and landed the best coach in UF history from Marshall so many years ago. until the admin/UAA decides to hire proven adults for our head coaching positions, we get these orphans and lots of failure

Agree with the sentiment about hiring an experienced P5 coach as an assistant. We look so lost at times with no real clear strategy, that it is hard not to blame a lot of this on the head coach. Do we ever switch up defensively? How many straight line drives did we give up last night?

I would agree up until last night. aTm isn't all that more talented. We can always say they have better outside shooters than us but athletically speaking, that was a game we should win (and lose when we play them at their place).

Too many! We have become everyone’s punching bag, so frustrating. CTG is under a microscope to a degree he never imagined. he doesn’t know what to do. if he can’t get going in recruiting physical guys, he will be canned next year. A reality, we can’t be at the bottom two years in a row but reality is starting to be a reaccurance. The refs know our coach doesn’t exude a physical presence and they are eating him up. not a good look. CTG we are pulling for you but you are beginning to lose some fans, if you lose this team, then I don’t know how long you will fare.

UF physicians and attorneys were never going to clear him to suit up in a Gator uniform. The risk is simply too big.

    Missed on:
Tyree Appleby - Gator now at Wake Forest(10-4). Would have stayed with Mike White.
Leading(Tied) in the ACC in Scoring and Assists.

How many people on this board were excited that he was gone...? almost everybody.

Mike White Georgia(11-3) head coach got possible Gator transfer

Terry Roberts leading roster full of transfers to 11-3 record and win over #22 Auburn.

When I watched the film of our transfer guards I viewed mr. SMALL and mr. SLOW. Golden didn't get who he wanted. If he did there is a BIG talent evaluator issue here. Fudge and Richard film showed developmental players with NBA upside.

This year's roster has more talent than last year's Gator team that finished 20-13 and 5TH in the SEC.

If a program is not a basketball Blue Blood then Players go to play for great coaches...

Golden took over a San Francisco program that had already won 14 conference championships in a weak Western Coast Conference. He could get players for that conference.

3rd year as a head coach he is taking over a program that usually finishes 3rd to 5th in the SEC and an unreasonable fanbase. He has already bailed on the 23 recruiting class(One 3* player) and looking to recruit 24. He is going to have a hard time convincing players that Florida is worth playing for and more importantly that he is a great head coach and will get them to the league(0 NBA players).

This season is over. Sure there are like 17 games left but we aren't making the tournament or even sniffing the bubble. We can't beat anyone with a pulse. I am so frustrated that we moved on from White and got worse. That is hard to do. I guess there is always next year but I do not have a good feeling or much hope for UF hoops in the near future.

dude, I bet everyone on this board would take the ‘96-‘97 Gators over any of the last few years of Gator BBall teams

you’re talking about the J-Will Season

Weak argument? You're saying 7-7 is worse than 7-21? Okay.
