If Mullen was here recruiting for us in the wild west of NIL, our class wouldn't be in the top 25 right now. Our staff worked their tail's off. Mullen and co never showed that on the trail.

We will sign 30+ players. This class isn’t done.

It’s not over. This was just the early signing period. Last year we got Moore, Etienne, Wilson, and James in February I believe.

Not every kid has the ability to enroll early.

Portal kombat pre and post-spring is still happening. I think we will get about 30 before the start of spring practice.

This class is very good quality. Multiple recruiting services have us as second or third in the country in average star rankinc. Even Rivals which usually downplays our recruits has us with 18 out of 20 4-star players. Higher average star ranking than Georgia.

    Two things:

    1. We have fewer players than a lot of our rivals

    2. We have not landed any elite 5-stars…..yet. Cormani and Ricks still have not signed.

If 90% of these signees are around for fall 2025 this is to be considered a very solid foundational class.

Why are you posting a video of a Gator basketball recruit?

Mullen’s classes were top heavy, and filled with non qualifiers. This class, so far, is solid top to bottom. Its almost all four stars.

Not only that if they signed early they are cleared for early enrollment academically.

Someone posted in another thread, top 5 in average star ranking. Problem with the thread are all the variables not accounted for. We played 5 true freshman last year w/significant reps and several who signed today will get a lot of playing time year 1. Quality over quantity. Pretty sure Napes has stated several times he won’t sacrifice a spot for just numbers. Patterson and Nixon are examples. Tweeners who may take a few years to see the field in a class with better talent ahead of them. We need to hit the portal for a dozen of upperclassmen who can contribute from day 1. Let’s see how the portal plays out from here.

edit: 6 true freshman played if you count Devon Moore.

Exactly. Pretty sure Coach said 20 EEs right now. That is significant and easily missed. Thanks!

It means they are cleared by UF Admissions. No need to worry there.

The portal is now part of recruiting in a huge way because of immediate playing time, so Napes will need to balance ESD with the portal. 3 of our best offensive players last year were from the portal and Napes recruited/developed 2 of them. Pretty sure he knows the D needs immediate impact players so let’s see what happens.

So is there a possibility EW3 is a non qualifier? Or just simply isn’t an EE

So I looked at all of Mullen's recruits and how they fared over the years. It was appalling at how many of the bigger names have been all on defense. Of all of Mullen's offensive recruits, AR was the only starter playing this year. Grimes, Copeland, Wright, and a couple of others have transferred out. Of the 2 QBs he recruited, AR was the only one that amounted to anything and if Mullen had not been fired, most likely EJ would have stayed and AR would have transferred. I've looked at the Top 5 programs and they recruit a number of QBs every cycle. Mullen never did. He hand-picked the one guy he thought was it and had nothing else to hang his hat on.

You should have started the thread with this post since it’s more of an opinion piece and I can appreciate the tough love for CBN. Don’t agree with it all, but to each their own.

However, when you start out saying CBN is not recruiting as good as Mullen, and do nothing but list 247 rankings, you are going to get comments you want to bacon. The analysis was lacking objective knowledge of the players in Mullen’s classes, so it should be be expected.

Couple all of this with the fact that it’s only ESD!

Your original post had nothing to do with any of that though. It was strictly about comparing Mullen and Napier's recruiting.

You have either forgot or are ignoring the fact that every class Mullen recruited had at least a couple of the top players not make it to campus. His class rankings were always skewed by kids who did not end up qualifying and who never stepped foot on campus.

Go back and look at how many names you dont recognize from those classes, and how many were decent players for us. You are only looking at the class ranking without researching the actual class

Napier is way better than Mullen as far as recruiting, and most other things, by the way. Yes, Mullen is VASTLY superior with offense Xs and Os.

But to compare Mullen to Napier as far as recruiting? That is similar to comparing flurries (Mullen) to a blizzard (Napier).

You don’t have to be an early enrollee to sign early.
