Depends if the fanbase/admin gives him time. I assume 2025 would be the first season we can expect things to look more like we want and 2026 to start to accurately evaluate Napier's product. I'd give the guy 5 years barring something crazy, but that's not where many UF football fans' heads are at it seems. Hopefully there isn't another quick hook and we let the guy build things, but I don't expect '23/'24 are going to look good enough to many.
I’m not sure he is better than what we have on the roster. Man someone tell EJ or Del Rio-Wilson to transfer back, we got an easy ass path to starting job sitting here waiting for them.
I'm more concerned with the season long body of work, but you very well may be right given the expectations of many UF fans.
I think either Mertz/Miller will start the season and the coaches will use Rashada as much as possible to get him reps. After the ~5th game, this will be Rashada's team unless Mertz/Miller are lighting it up. A similar situation happened at Clemson with Lawrence and Bryant. I don't think you sign a 5* QB and sit him on the bench when the players in front of him are average players. Rashada is elite. It would not surprise me if he is the starter on day 1 ... regardless of who transfers in. In addition, I think we'll see 10+ true freshman become contributors next season.
There have been plenty but not gators. As quickly as guys move to the NFL now though, I think it’s more important to go ahead and get them out there so you get three years out of them
Welcome Mertz!!!! Hopefully you don’t read this board. Lol. If you do, you can tell we have tons of great coaching talent at UF but most work from home!!!
You just have to be able to give an honest evaluation of the guy moving forward with the program. Wins and losses don’t count near as much as what you see on the field. It was obvious that our last three coaches weren’t getting it done. It wasn’t about the number of years. And if you aren’t paying equal money to the top schools, do not blame the coach for not having top five classes. If you pay for top 10 class then you can get a top 10 class. If that’s all the coach gets then that’s all we should expect out of them
Slice it anyway you want, this is highly underwhelming. Ran a run heavy offense similar to ours and yet he rushed for -65 yardage last year. Combed over Wisconsin boards and they could not get rid of him fast enough. Someone mentioned watch his high school film. Nah, I'm good. Seen enough to know.
In addition, I do not think we have a complex offense. Therefore, it doesn't take a QB a few years to learn it. If Rashada enrolls early he'll be our starter at some point next year.
Here is the way I interpret this: 1. We are in dire need of portal help at QB 2. We ain’t done taking portal QBs. Whoever tanks it in the spring will hit the portal again. But spring battle needs to have 3-4 QBs in it.
