The University of Florida provided me the education needed for my family to lead a pretty good life so I give credit to a great school. That said I have no love or respect for the football players who leave early, opt out or quit on their teammates, school, coaches and fans. Yesterday's terrible loss was the result of players abandoning everyone who counted on them to represent the school we all love. Damn the players who took themselves off the field, selfishness and damn the agents and damn the NFL for ruining college football.! AR especially.
That’s true, and in today’s society individual trumps team. The ‘me first’ cancer is the root of more of our problems than just college football
On one hand is a revenue-generating sport. It is a vehicle for some guys to make a living (although not as many who want to). On the other is a game of youngsters who desire to prove their worth to their teammates and to achieve good to great results. One is called major college football. The other is called Division III football. Nothing wrong with making UF a Division III program. Will this make you happy? Not too many folks who follow UF football are going to go along. It isn't pretty but it IS real.
A lot of these players are not even going to sniff the Pros and will be broke by the time they are 30. Let them be and have them do what they think they need to do to improve their chances to avoid that.
The worst of it is that the opt-outs are the antithesis of the culture that the new coach says he is trying to build...one where teammates can rely and count on one another. I doesn't appear that this new culture has taken root very well with the Gator team so far.
I feel that way too but if I was AR’s dad, I’d hate to do it but I’d advise sit his ass down and get that 10-15 mil.
Dexter said sitting never entered his mind so there is some that feel that way. Hopefully Napier is finding those guys. Trask went out there and took his lumps too, competitors compete. It may not be in tge best financial interest of a kid because there is a risk but that fight inside can’t be taught. Fighters win championships.
You can have love and respect for whomever you wish, but this line of thinking goes against reality. Risking millions to play in the "some construction company bowl" just isn't a smart decision. I will not begrudge a kid for making a sound decision so either the incentive structure changes or this is what we get.
They don't give a rats ass what you think. Do you feel better now getting that off your chest? LOL. I find it so odd that a fan that hasn't shed an ounce of blood or sweat on the field or risked permanent injury chastising those that have making decisions that are best for themselves. Literally all you do is cheer and buy gear.
Of course they don't....and its apparent that some don't give a rats ass what their teammates think either. Its not what this coach says he is trying to build as part of the culture.
You're right I never had the opportunity to. play college football because I wasn't good enough but I played for the love of the game.96Gatorcise you are typical of the younger generation...I'd never want you sharing a foxhole with me! You're watching the demise of a great sport but don't have sense enough to know it.
I'm 51. And you're being like the young people today. You think your entitled simply because you're a fan. The players don't owe you anything. It's their life. Not the first time you mentioned foxhole in a post. Thank you for your service. I never served, but I support the military, so do you want me to criticize the decisions you made in the field? Or just say thank you?
