DeSantis passes Trump in latest round of polls...

    Polling since the midterms has not been kind to Trump. DeSantis is surging. He has also erased his double digit deficit to Biden.

    A Biden v DeSantis race is dead even.

    But it is abundantly clear that DeSantis is gaining or even passing Trump and he hasnt made a single campaign move yet.

    Thats bad news for the orange muffin.

    "But when you distill the race to two candidates, the verdict is much less favorable for Trump. Another Economist/YouGov poll from two weeks earlier showed DeSantis up 36 percent to 29 percent in that scenario. A Quinnipiac University poll released in late November showed each at 44 percent among Republicans. And a poll from Marquette University law school actually showed DeSantis with a 20-point lead when you include GOP-leaning independents, 60 percent to 40 percent    .

    True. Pretty much think in the scenarios offered in these polls it looks likely that POTUS DeSantis will get his shot.

    And I am most definitely here for it.:)

    Do any of these polls consider the scenario where Trump runs as an Independent if DeSantis gets the GOP nomination?

    Yeah, some Repubs are finally giving up on Trump, not because he's a horrible human being, but because after the midterms disaster they now realize he can't win. So God Boy DeSantis is next in line.

    This will be the new liberal narrative I assume? All along they said Trump would be the guy, conservatives wont turn on him, DeSantis wont beat him, he has undying support. Yada yada yada.

    So now it will be, yeah but they only dumped him because... Yada yada yada.

    Fact is, at the moment, Trump is losing his grip.

    Biden is basically an ineffectual old man gaffe machine.
    Trump is a threat to democracy and decency.

    to me there is no scenario where we deserve Trump, short of Biden publicly pledging allegiance to Russia. At least Trump was mostly circumspect about it.

    Agree with your overall sentiment but not sure it's fair to call Biden ineffectual at this point. Do we have any reason to believe that Elizabeth Warren or Mayor Pete would have gotten more done in their first two years? I think Democrats chose Biden because they knew him, Obama's good will had rubbed off on him, and he was seen as safe. He's getting old, but I think he's played his role pretty well despite the gaffes.

    Exactly this. I think orange baby will get enough of his cult to stay home on general Election Day to sink Desantis even if he were to get the nod over Trump in the primary.

    That said, this is extremely encouraging news. Let’s please get this piece of shit out of our lives for good.

    I'm not sure about that. I think most of even Trump's MAGA base hates Democrats/libs more than they love Trump.

    The only way Desantis beats Trump is if the following happens:

    1. dead people vote
    2. The voting machines are rigged
    3. Ballots are switched from Trump to Desantis
    4. Hugo Chavez' family decides to sell Dominion voting machines
    5. Desantis steals the election

    What am I missing?
