FYI: this is normally @RayGator's game thread - but at his request I was asked to get it started - something I am happy to do - but also very humbled and honored. Love you Ray and greatly look forward to your contributions here as we move forward to the game on Saturday! The 123rd edition of this classic returns to Philadelphia for the 90th time, where a sellout crowd of 70,000 at Lincoln Financial Field will enjoy one of the finest traditions in the country. The (5-6) Black Knights are a 1.5 underdog to the (4-7) Midshipmen. I know we have a strong military presence here - so let's hear it from all you warriors!
I envy you! I was privileged to stand on the sidelines with the Army Rabble Rousers for a few games in the early 1970s. The 1972 game was an absolute thriller. BEAT NAVY!
As always in the past, we invite all our Military personnel to check in on this game thread, whether Army or Navy or Air Force or Coast Guard etc. Whether Retired or Active. Whether here in the States or somewhere else in the world. It’s always great to see them check in.
Retired Air Force here. My Dad served in the Navy during WWII. So it's Go Middies for me. Attending this game is on my bucket list. Watching the Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps of Cadets march into the stadium has to be something to see.
My brother (USMA class of '86) his wife and their son (USMA class of '26) will all be there today. Their daughter graduates from UF next Saturday. Off to law school next fall.
“ Beat Navy!” My first recorded public oration at age 2 and a butt, during a particularly quiet moment in the Mass at the Most Holy Trinity chapel at West Point. “Beat Navy” signage is, literally, everywhere on post at this time of year. I was at the age when I asked “What does that say?” Whenever I saw a public sign of any kind and so often all I heard in reply was “Beat Navy.” So I noticed some lettering at the foot of one of the stained glass windows next to our pew and waited for a moment of peace to point at the letters and, assuming they said what everything else said, hollered “BEAT NAVY!” In my little 2 year old voice. Everyone seemed to find it amusing except my dad, who turned beet red. But even he had to grin eventually.
Thanks to all who served and are serving and their families! Words cannot adequately convey how much we appreciate and love you all. I have to run out and will be back so gonna mark this thread as LIVE and unpin her...... GO NAVY!!!
