Has resulted in over 40,000 people without power. Hospitals and sewers on generators. All after attacks were carried out against two power substations in Moore County, NC. The FBI, State Bureau of Investigation and law enforcement from all 11 municipalities in the county are seeking the criminals. Gun shot damage and physical vandalism is likely to be in $Millions and take days to bring in replacement equipment.

Law enforcement declined to answer questions about whether or not the attacks were in response to a drag-event on Saturday in Whispering Pines after local extremist groups promised violence if the town permitted the event.

This is domestic terrorism. This is the result of the hateful bullshit the Republicans have been peddling.

Lack of power puts people’s lives in danger. Should definitely be treated as terrorists.

GOP should keep up the rhetoric. It’s definitely working to unhinge shooters and terrorists.

Read the linked article. It’s not correct to say that law enforcement declined to answer questions about a link to the drag event.

No, the non-stop news yesterday coming out of Moore County does. They simply said that they had no information to share on whether or not it was relevant to what was going on.

I live less than 60 minutes from where this happened and it was all over the local news outside of the black out area. I realize that when I added that part to the OP it made it more controversial, but it was the discussion taking place during the news conferences.

Seems like an urban legend reason to me though. Likely idiots being idiots.

Let’s not not assign blame when there’s zero evidence of who did it or why.

    Idiots on social media...

ABERDEEN, N.C. — A woman who vehemently and repeatedly protested a drag show scheduled in Southern Pines claims that deputies questioned her in regard to the mass power outages in the county, after she posted on social media that she knows why the outage happened.
Emily Grace Rainey, a former U.S. Army psychological operations officer, made several posts about it on social media, even saying in one post: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why."

Moore County authorities investigate social posts claiming knowledge of Moore County blackout

I don’t know if I believe her, but...

Come on, let’s don’t do that. Just derails what could and should be a reasonable conversation.

There is circumstantial evidence and a possible suspect (or at least person with particular knowledge of “whodunnit”) that it’s exactly what it appears to be.

Of course it’s all speculative until they make an arrest.

Yes. Even engaging at 100+yards at night, unless you dedicate a lot of resources this type of attack would be impossible to prevent or solve. As I mentioned this story was one of the motivating factors in me getting the natural gas generator

So someone on social media said she knew why. Why would anybody treat that as credible? If we have learned nothing else in the last 5 years, it’s that social media is not where you go for enlightenment.

Let's not conflate the lack of confirmation with the lack of evidence. There's a lot of evidence, and it certainly seems likely that it was motivated by hatred. And that should surprise no one. We live in a time where there is constant attempts to foment hatred and instigate violence against this community. Charlotte climber has been amassing the evidence with respect to Moore County

And her Twitter feed has others posting about similar attempts at terroristic intimidation in Ohio. Obviously nothing's confirmed yet, but this seems like an all too predictable result of the desire to foment hatred and the lizard brain reaction to changing norms
