No kidding.

Give the Pac-12 some credit this year. Oregon State was probably 5th in the Pac-12 pecking order this year (after Utah, USCw, Wash, and Oregon, on par with UCLA). So yeah, we get matched up with that conference in their deepest year in recent memory. Normally a below-average-but-not-bottom-dweller SEC team would still match up well with Pac-12 #5, but this wasn't a normal year.

 

Dec 17 is my wife’s birthday and we will be out. Guess I’ll read a complete rundown in the next day’s Gainesville Sun. Oh, wait, never mind.

 

Should be a fun game against two schools who have never met. BTW, we are going to run the ball, and run it, and run it again.

 

Do we even have a QB for this game?

 

Oregon State has the #20 rush defense and #31 total defense, but they are #74 in passing yards allowed. As long as the Gators do not get cute with offense and keep it on the ground we have a chance to prove that the statistics do not matter.

 

Is Dexter playing?

 

No official announcements, but I would assume Dexter, Torrance, and possibly Richardson are not playing in the bowl game. I would love to be wrong about Richardson.

 

It depends on which Gator team shows up!

 

We can play with anyone, and beat ourselves at our own game! The Gators are a schizophrenic team, and I wouldn't bet on this game!

 

good news is with all the departures on the team, travel expenses will be lower

 

The matchup is kind of cool, and the location is awesome, but as another poster mentioned, I really worry about how badly this affects the ability of our coaches to put the pedal to the medal on recruiting during the last week before early signing day. They couldn’t have made it any more difficult for Napier to deal with everything that’s going on.

 

Nice match-up for FSU in their bowl game - 6-6 Oklahoma with a first year coach.

The bowl committee seems to like matching up 9-3 teams with 6-6 teams.

Why not match FSU with Oregon State and Florida with Oklahoma?

I thought I read somewhere that there's a possibility the game gets moved to an earlier kick time depending on whether the Raiders get chosen for an earlier game on Sunday? So the stadium can be turned around in time? If so....maybe puts a crimp in travel plans for some folks.

 

In their top 4 games this year...USC, Utah, Washington and Oregon...they barely topped 6 yards per attempt, with only 8 total completions more than 15 yards and they threw for a grand total of 0 tds and 10 picks. If we just do a reasonable job of shutting down their running game no reason we can't win this one.

 

You post runs contrary to the standard view of Gator fans who believe that west coast teams are always over-rated, that if they played in the SEC they would be bottom feeders. So do any others complaining about the match-up after years of complaining the SEC does not get enough credit for SOS.
Perhaps you were in the minority who didn't agree.

True, if we play some lowly G5 school (AND LOSE) then you would really have some pissy fans. At least this way if we get beat it's by a good team.
