I already thought it was unlikely. With the Kitna stuff coming down that's scrutiny he probably doesn't want associated with his name / brand. I think he's going to cut ties pretty severely for a bit.
Just haven't heard his name. All year people were talking Kitna. I thought Miller was only supposed to be out the first two weeks of the season. So if he is healthy, he should get the start in the bowl game.
What do teams get? 15 practices or something or is that spring? Gotta get someone up to speed and Miller took reps in the spring at least. Gotta be him, no? Unless something is going on behind the scenes we aren’t privy to.
No reason to rush. Hopefully doing due diligence and waiting on several NFL scouting reports to make an informed decision. Next week after bowl selection is a more likely announcement time.
Rumor has it that Richardson is clearing out his locker. Even without the rumor we should mentally prepare for the possibility of Jack Miller starting and Max Brown backing him up. We have no idea how well his thumb has healed, and on top of that none of the existing film on Miller inspires any confidence. Miller was injured in high school, which impacted his stats. He had to compete against both Justin Fields and CJ Stroud, and a DUI arrest did not help his case. He has happy feet in the pocket and he tends to stare down receivers. I find it hard to believe he could fix those tendencies during practice once his thumb healed, so we should assume that the passing concepts will be rather simple: play action with deep shots. The even more limited film on Max Brown shows he has a slow delivery.
If AR played in Bowl just to help us, but he really didn't want to play, he wouldn't play good, we would be better off with Miller.
Our 1989 Auburn game might need a look. Donald Douglas was our QB that day- he went 1 for 5 for less than 10 yards. Emmitt left, Emmitt right, Emmitt up the middle. We almost pulled it off- we led 7-3 with less than a minute before Auburn pulled off a miracle 4th down play. The only problem is that the 22 d is a notch below the 89 D, but hey, we have 15 practices to get that fixed.
Waiting to publicly declare is different than having private conversations with BN about it. I can assure you BN is not in the dark here.
Any mention of a game plan involving Donald Douglas will spike my blood pressure through the roof. He was, perhaps, the worst starting QB at Florida since I started following the Gators in 1980. The only way he ever completed a pass - at least to a guy wearing Gator colors - was if he was on the run. In a drop-back situation, he was bound to throw the ball wildly off-target and often toward a defender. Good Lord, please never mention that name again.
