Every year we get guys that we didn’t even know about. We speculate a lot but the staffs usually have a lot more going on than we know about. If we don’t get a kid, we may never know the effort was made. Many kids don’t let everyone on doc media hang on their every move.
Oh I know this staff is working every angle and doing everything they can right now. It's just concerning we can't get more backers right now. No way we don't bring in either some recruits we aren't aware of or transfers but it shouldn't be this hard. I don't know if Bateman is a problem or not but we need backers in the worst way and right now we aren't in on many, that WE are aware of.
'24's gonna be too late for Napier unless he gets on some LB's in the portal (or HS) for 2023. I wouldn't want to have to count on true freshmen to save my job for me.
I was talking about the quantity of good linebackers in the next cycle who are high on the Gators. We already have Graham committed at linebacker, currently look good for adarius Hayes , E. Rushing and several others. But you are correct that we also need portal backers that can fill a need in a hurry.
Personally, it's not that he'll be coaching for his job, just that if we don't get at least 1 starting quality transfer at LB it could be another rough year on defense next year and same for '24, and that could very easily make the seat hot, per se. Thing is, I really doubt Billy will allow that to happen and by then will have found a couple transfer LBs that can start and maybe another '23 LB recruit to develop. And we should be doing much better everywhere else, but yes, LB play like this year can't just be covered up by other positions. Just noticed this is Densons thread lol
Agree. Everyone can make mistakes, lose games, hire the wrong people, etc. The difference is Billy seems to be the kind that will learn from mistakes and make the changes necessary, plus build a good program. That, of course, does not mean instantly changing everything people on Twitter complain about without understanding, just having a real plan and not tolerating the sh**show Mullen had with bad coaching buddies, players with attitudes, etc. etc. etc.
Depends on what happens in 2023, doesn't it. If he can't find LB's that can play and the Defense melts down again next year and loses multiple winnable games do you think there will be a lot of loud grumbling in Gatorcountry? I do.
Were you one of the 10-2 prognosticators for 2022? I hope you are right. Realistically the Gators need good linebackers like mashed potatoes need gravy.....lets hope we get them.
