I watched the first half, I’m on the road. Germany up 2-0?

2-1 Japan. Germany was looking like they might run away with it in the first half. Then Japan changed their entire tactic and became super aggressive in the second half. The subs were the key. Japanese subs were making crazy runs.

Wow. The Germans looked strong in first half. I’m surprised. Sucks that I missed it.

How many saves from Japanese keep? Did the Germans look bad or did the Japanese just look better in second half?
Hate depending on that Lalas guy for analysis.

I believe he had 7 but at one point he made 3 saves within 15 seconds or so.

From my untrained eye, Japan looked good.

US/England nil-nil draw. very simple for the US to advance, beat Iran. talk about a politically charged game.

Good showing for the US. Scoring still an issue. Iran will be an interesting game and a must win.

    USA beats England, 0-0...

I am curious if the TV rating(Fox only) for the USA match is higher than Texas vs Baylor or UF vs FSU.

If we had any kind of a striker this team would be formidable

Matches like this don't bring new fans to the sport. IMHO

You can see that we are trying to build for 4 years from now. Two holes that we need to solve: Central Defense and the 9 up front.

Agree. The midfield has been pretty phenomenal. Worlds better than when Bradley was yucking it up there for years.

speaking of 4 years from now, are the us/canada/mexico jointly hosting? if so, do all 3 automatically qualify as host nations thus no need for all the qualifying rounds?

We hear comments like this every World Cup. And soccer in the US continues to grow. As the boomer generation dies off, soccer will become ever more popular in the US.

It’s a very good young core that will be playing at home in 4 years. With the right additions this could be a very good squad. They need to hit the portal for some help!

Agree. No one match will bring fans anyway. It’s branding, celebrity athletes, media attention, peer groups, etc. The growth of soccer fans in the US is undeniable and accelerating, specially in young Gen Xers and subsequent generations. Outside football, and maybe basketball, I hear more soccer discussions in the office than any other pro sport.
