I hate the "Money Down"

Will you guys get a grip? Have you been to UF in the last ten years? There are plenty of hot chicks.

And I totally disagree with the notion that smart people are ugly. IMO, dumb chicks are more likely to be the fatties.

 

If they rub their fingers in lieu of screaming their heads off, get rid of it. If they are screaming and rubbing their fingers, who cares.

 

I love it and do it every third down - the whole family does it. Even when we are at home watching.

That and saying "Fantastic" every time the announcers say "Gators Basketball" are some of our favorites.

I can't think of a single cheer I don't like.

Its really weird that this many people would be bothered by some one showing support for the team.

 

I'm here everyday and I have no idea why anyone would believe any different (than what you posted). I have to make myself look the other way at times as to not be a "creepy old guy".

There is a reason they never made the video of "trailer park girls gone wild"

 

You and me both. I feel personally responsible for at least 3 forced timeouts the opposing team had to take because I prevented them from communicating pre-snap.

 

The issue is not the gesture but the fairly large number of people in the stands who do it in lieu of shouting.
Doing it while shouting your brains out - no issues. Fans doing it in silence as if they could use the force is not effective.
Making noise is your one and only job in the stands.

 

There should be a meme for this, maybe then young people would get the idea that rubbing your fingers together is "soft" while cupping your hands together and yelling means get the F out of my stadium.

 

I tried to explain that to a couple of people around me that do the finger rubbing that that was started by a coaching staff that had been fired...and that it didn't help then and certainly hasn't helped now..they smiled, nodded and then proceeded to do it again for the next "3rd Dooowwnn!" I just shook my head and yelled for the D..btw that didn't work either

It is hard to cheer for because it always reminded me that our offense would soon likely get back on the field and stink it up (seasons 2015-17)

 

And on the other end of the spectrum I'm stupid and fat.....

The $ down signal has become embarrassing for obvious reasons. I believe it was started by Johnny Manziel. Lot of good it did him.

 

We're dead last in the country on that down... I "dislike" that too.

 

When I see the "Money Down" it reminds me of the World's Smallest Violin:

When someone is whining and you are tired of hearing it, you can play the world's smallest violin. This is accomplished by rubbing your index finger and thumb together and saying, "This is the world's smallest violin, and it's playing just for you."

We need a decibel challenge of some kind to get rid of the silence. Teams walking around with decibel meters and giving the section that is the loudest on third down some prize/reward. Either that or have displays that can be read with the dB level. Do it in real time so that it can be tracked on cell phones and sections can compete.

 

Too lazy to read the whole thread, but, when you can't keep yelling all game long (while using hands as megaphones), a good alternative to create noise could be simply clapping, or stomping feet for the ones sitting down.
PLUS it won't look as silly as rubbing fingers together.

 

Well, we could all be raising glasses of wine and "cheering nobly" for the act of bravery by our team, but they don't allow alcohol in the stands.

Or glass either, so no clinking of the glass. It would be spectacular!

My Reader's Digest version of the thread is it is a silly idea. I say, why not go truly silly?

For our defense it shouldn't be the $ down...it should be something like devalued Sheeba Coin.
