That’s why title IX is the dumbest shit ever

 

Even though Title IX took my sport from my university, I'm a big proponent. It's hard to imagine being against it. Just kind of a basic fairness thing.

 

I expect more optimism from you.

 

When you follow the money it doesn’t look quite as fair - but whoever said life is fair right?

 

I like that women get to have their sports but taking away men’s sports because men play sports more than women is ridiculous. There should be a way for the women to have every sport they have now plus the man still be able to play any sport they want to also

 

A common misconception about Title IX. It’s not about number of sports.

 

Following the money is part of why I’m a fan of Title IX.

 

So they selectively delete men’s sports to make room for more womens’ sports, while the remaining men’s sports pay for all of it.

 

...and until recently at least, it was grossly unfair to the male athletes whose efforts provided the funding for the 1 for 1 ratio, male to female scholly requirement. JMHO.

 

Effectively it is though. The requirement is to provide equal financial aid money to both women and men based on the proportion of the sexes at the institution. So for a school like Florida which is 57% female they have to spend 57% of their scholarship money on female sports or prove they are expanding female opportunities to reach this. Additionally here is a website that shows this is the actual case at the university of Florida where the average female athlete gets 53.5% of total financial aid and the average male athlete gets 46.5%.

Title IX has some great parts but it also is currently negatively affecting men's sports.

 

I actually do think I'm relatively optimistic about the football team this year -- I could absolutely see us winning nine games, which I think puts me in a pretty optimistic cohort. But if you "could" win nine games, it's very easy to only win seven games.

 

Anyone that pedicts less than 15-0 should be put in stocks, on the edge of lake Alice, Naked and Afraid, with raw hamburger all over the feet and legs, for no less than 24 hours. (Calling all Gators and Skeeters)

Exactly. I’m all for supporting our female athletes and provi the opportunity, but not at the expense of cutting male sports.
