This is a such and exercise is hypotheticals. What we are supposed to pay 17 year old kids 12 million dollars for what they may do in 18 months? Case in point Demarcus Bowman...guy is Class A 5* Bustorama. How many schools would be polishing up the Hellcats and getting the Certified checks ready for him. top 100 players, about 1/2 of them are busts, it;s not guaranteed winning with top 100s, you have lots of other factors in play.

But not getting top 100 players, what does that do to a program.

He will go to a weak tier 2 of FCS school and snag a small NIL deal and ball out. Be a late round pick and fizzle. Be working at Hardies by 2026.

I think almost all the players rated outside the top 350 or so are second tier.

I think that most coaches and many boosters who have been around for at least several years know that almost no recruits will have a significant ROI until at least their second year in the system. Anyone who expects a true freshman to be a major contributor to anything besides special teams is fooling themselves. Very few first year players are even good enough to start for top rated teams.

Part of the formula is buying the top players for your team. The other part is buying the top players to keep them from other teams. Lol aka bama.

There has to be a line somewhere right? Some great players outside of there but that would be misranked kids.

You don’t believe around 15 is second tier? I would say anything from 6-20 is second tier. The term “second tier” has a negative connotation but in this case I think it would be a solid class. Around 15 is what we should see come February and that works for me.

5-15 to me is second tier- long shot for a title. After 15, hang it up.

We will have to "overpay" for him, being at least in the ballpark of the highest offer. That's the position we've gotten ourselves into unless we could have closed deals early (bag and sign). We may be his favorite school, but c'mon..

Maybe $4-5M, which is what a top QB should have been worth. Seems like we're forced to win this one overpaying, not so much for the boost in recruiting anymore but just to prevent falling dangerously out of relevancy. ('20-22Class Rank=9, 12, 17 - SEC 6, 5, 7) Tough to have 4 straight years so far from the top 3 SEC teams.

    I view 1-8 as tier 1. 9-15 as tier 2. 16+ pickleball.

If we’re going to overpay for anyone it needs to be OL and DL. They can make everyone else’s shortcomings disappear

6,7,8 aren’t in the same building as 1,2,3…….not even close.
