So, I guess none of you have an issue with taking a child to a strip bar!! I help with a nonprofit and we reap a little financial benefit from a drag queen bingo and while there is no nudity, there is quite vulgar language that I don't think minors should be exposed to.

And you think its the government's duty to make sure kids don't hear what you consider vulgar language?

Oh, it is vulgar and not age appropriate. I guess the government should have age limits on purchasing guns either Mr. Libertarian, or have age limits on purchasing alcohol, or even required ratings on movies.

Maybe it is. I've seen plenty of parents bring their kids to a bar or tailgate that doesn't have drag queens where drunk people are getting stupid and vulgar language is happening, or let them watch movies with bad words and violence, and I don't see any government people trying to crack down on that, especially by making them felons & potentially terminating parental rights! It strikes me that this is not really about the bad words, but rather the drag queen thing.

The event was advertised as family friendly so I doubt there was any vulgarity or alcohol unlike a family taking their 5 year old to a Hooters. Either way, why does the government need to step in?

I just rolled my eyes the first couple times I saw this. It didn't really register with me that this was going to be a felony.

We are going to take away a parent from a kid, potentially take the kid away from the family depending on how things shake out, and call it good for the kid?

And Republicans, the party of family values, are the ones celebrating this? We really have gone astray in our efforts to poke liberals in the eye.

The volusia count library used to have a drag queen read kids books one morning a month. It was advertised. Somebody was going to protest and the librarian said just dont come that day.

I honestly don't know, but is it currently illegal in Florida for a minor to be in a strip club and what happens to a parent if they take their minor child to one? If it's currently allowed, it seems like Florida would start with banning that. On the other hand, if that's already illegal, then that prohibition would apply to drag shows (and non drag shows as well) so long as stripping were involved. So why target drag shows unless it's just anti-trans? I also wonder if the state could punish parents who let their kids watch R rated movies?

So, don’t take your kid there. Maybe some parents and families disagree with your moral stance. Government shouldn’t be involved in morals.

The crazy thing is drag queens aren't even trans. Its mostly just gay guys dressing as women for a show, and when the show ends, they dress like men again.

I think young kids would probably just see drag queens as clowns. Dress up in silly outfits and act silly

So would you be in favor of the government taking the children from a family and charging the parents with a felony in all cases if kids are exposed to vulgar language ... or only if a drag queen is involved?

That's why we have to ban Halloween to. When kids dress up as tigers or pirates, they may get the idea that they can be a tiger or a pirate.
