Women host Ole Miss today Claim a VERY tight doubles match, they have not played as well in doubles of late Rebound with a strong showing in singles...straight set wins on the top 5 courts, and Berlin is up 4-3 in her second set. A match they should win, and they took care of business Men at Arky Great start as the blitz all 3 doubles courts, very nice to see after a slow doubles start to the year. Didn't really carry over to singles unfortunately. Riffice blitzes his guy to make it 2-0 Andrade also with a straight set win for 3-0 Vale continues to struggle a little, loses in straight sets for 3-1 Goddger with an awful first set, then goes 6-1 6-1 to clinch the match Shelton won a first set TB, up 5-4 in a tight second set Bonetto won a first set TB, lost 2nd set 3-6. 1-1 in 3rd Not a great singles day by any stretch, but solid enough
Berlin finishes off the sweep for the women Shelton gets the win 6-4 in the 2nd, tough match Bonetto regained his game and up 4-2 in the third
Bonetto finishes it off strongly.....good 3rd sets on the 5 and 6 courts make me feel much better about the match. Wish Vale could find that grind that won so many matches at #1 last season
Duarte has been a bit less effective at times this year. However, I can promise you this, when the stakes are the highest during championship time, Duarte will be right there for the team.
Women hosting Miss St. Another bad doubles outing, a strength has turned into an issue....Miss St takes the point Kessler, Zein (at 2 today), and Dahlstrom with solid straight set wins to make it 3-1 Briggs cruised 6-0 in her first set, but is now in a 2nd set TB....need her point Dudney is down a set and a break in her match Berlin won a 1st set TB, at 2-2 in the 2nd. Translation, Briggs needs to win this TB or it gets real nervous
Dudney loses, Briggs wins her TB and the match Berlin is down a break. An uninspiring win, the new normal
Berlin loses in a super TB. 4-3 vs Miss St at home is poor, took a nice step forard on Friday in singles, regressed today...they did sit Shelton but that shouldn't have mattered much.
Slightly OT, but I just noticed how Sleeth is doing over at Oklahoma. Playing #1, ranked in the top 20 nationally and the team is ranked #3, having pretty much become nationally relevant out of nowhere. Just another one that makes you wonder...
Short of a big recruiting class this year, it’s time for RT to move on. He can’t recruit to our standard anymore, he can’t maximize the talent he has, and has and a problem with our best players leaving. It’s an awful combo, the fact that he’s coach at a historically top 3 program is the only thing that’s kept him afloat at all.
He does have a top 5 signee, but that isn't enough to get UF back. I mean the guy has a lot of titles, but it's been bad since Balogh was let go. Not sure he can get it back at this juncture
One is a start, but isn’t gonna do it. Especially when our top players seem to bail regularly anyway. We are a long way from where we should be.
