For all of Grantham's faults he somehow always managed to scare Saban and Alabama football when we played him. The sad truth is if Grantham was a competent DC we would have beaten them twice while was was our DC.

Saban want's to know how this guy almost beat his teams.

If he has zero say on actual defensive calls then he can be an asset.

Just glad he is not here anymore, wayyyyyy to many 3rd and long's given up, and could not stand why he did not use press coverage more....? Even if the secondary talent was the excuse, reason,.... it still would have disrupted the timing more, and bought the DL time to get to the QB. I consider any football experienced coach, with decent talent, could do a satisfactory defense. But, their gambles, timing of blitzes or drops into coverage, determines their success. For whatever reason, TG had a lot of trouble on 3rd down defense...... Al Davis: "Get to the Quarterback!"
The Bear: "Be good or be gone."
    GO GATORS!!!!

Granthams defense is one of the most odd things Ive ever seen at UF. It seemed he would routinely be able to shut down 1st and 2nd downs creating a bunch of 3rd and 10 plus but then inexplicably he would have the defense trying to defend a hail mary on 3rd and 8. Honestly if you just kept him from calling the 3rd down coverage he may have been an adequate defensive coach. Now eventually the wheels fell off...like just 4 wheels though...like all the freaking wheels of an 18 wheeler followed by a tire fire started with kerosene.

"Miss Terry always wants to blitz more.

I've never said this to Miss Terry, but I’m a secondary coach, and secondary coaches that play for coaches who blitz a lot, they end up sleeping under the bridge and twitching, like this. Cause you’re always putting the back end in a tough situation."

Am I the only one who finds it weird he calls her Miss Terry? She's his wife not his kindergarten teacher

I wasn't just 3rd downs that did him in. It was the inexplicable inability to adjust during the game. It was so comical, the opposing offense would run the same play over and over and over with positive results. For a while we had the worst defense in the SEC.

Yep that too...sheer repeated stupidity....nothing worse than watching your defense roll over on the same play 19 times in a row...ugggh.

Maybe Saban will teach him what a counter play is, and how to stop it.
