49.275 on floor even with 3 first timers going, and several routines scaled back. Hurd is on the floor with the team but in street clothes.
Great beam set 49.55. Gators at 148.1 after 3 rotations and way ahead overall. 12 gymnasts have had routines so far.
Closed strong with a 49.575 on floor, 197.675 overall. Best opening night score ever for the gators, Blakely won the all around, fiest ever to do that in her first meet. And 13 gators competed tonight. just a great overall first night.
seems the last couple of years we have peaked too early, hope with all the depth some can be rested, after all only sec, regional and national really matter, dual meets are fun, but in the end, mostly meaningless.
Crazy good considering Ellie didn’t complete and Trinity didn’t do beam or floor. Such a stacked lineup!
Good crowd, better performances from our team seeing th other 3 teams compete gives one a perspective on out young women and their skills, the win was never in doubt but we knew that from the get go. If I heard Tom correctly they announced the score as the best ever for an opener. Bama bounces in on Sunday the 16th, will be a very good measuring stck
As expected, Jenny really happy with tonight. Jenny Rowland, Alyssa Baumann, & Sloane Blakely Postmeet 1-7-22
Meanwhile GA posted a score of 194.500 vs Michigan. Michigan posted a 197.750 but used only 7 gymnasts so depth may be an issue for them. GA program is going south.
Had to laugh when Leanne Wong had one of her scores dropped. Welcome to college gymnastics Leanne. Leanne is going to be a great one for UF. She is silk when she's right. Think she pressed a bit last night. It'll likely be the last time she does that. That's what this tune up meet was meant to accomplish. Alyssa Baumann deserved a 10 on her floor routine. One judge gave her a 10 and the other a 9.95. Alyssa did great on beam at 9.925. Alyssa is the Queen of the Beam. I think this is what she is going to do all season barring injuries to others. She performed a bars exhibition last night. Don't think we will see her on the vault. One thing I noticed is that Alyssa was on the floor coaching up the other gymnasts and gave a lot of one on one support. Sloane Blakely reminds me of Kennedy Baker in looks and performance. Too bad we won't get Skye for 2 more years. Sloane won the all-around, but this will likely be her last chance to do that. Megan Skaggs? Considering she led off on 3 of the 4 events, she did extremely well. That lead off position is a tough one. I'm sure Payton Richards is glad not to be there again. Didn't see Ellie Lazzari perform last night which was a bit of a surprise. Ellie was consistently good in all-around in her freshman season. Leah Clapper? She's as solid on the beam as anyone. She just lacks the athleticism to be a huge contributor on the other events. Want a consistent 9.9+? Put Leah on the beam. Got to find a way to get Riley McCusker's ankles close to 100%. She did a fine bars routine only to lose points for hobbling on her landing. I'm sure Jenny and staff will do everything possible to get her ready for college gymnastics. Riley is under no daily pressure like she was when competing at the elite national team level. Nya Reed looked mid-season ready on the vault and floor. Sydney Johnson Sharpf isn't ready to perform. That's not a surprise as it takes a year to recover from tearing your Achilles heel. Gabrielle Gallentine didn't perform last night. She performed on the bars last season. I don't know if she will get the chance with this team.
Wonder how much McCusker and Hurd will be able to contribute this season due to their injuries? If they were healthy it would be lights out!
