Apparently they had a really poor week at practice

You experiment at practice to find what is working and what isn't. I am not a fan of trying to experiment at game time, especially since this is CC's second year and I would hope that by now the coaches know what works and what doesn't. If this is is starting to sound like a Todd Grantham rant, I apologize.

When Mike White came to Florida he was a player’s coach. Hell, he was almost a “player coach”. That is not much older than the older players and able to relate to them very well. They obviously relate to him very well. That’s well and good but it makes it much harder to tell them that they are not meeting expectations and consequences will follow. (I think I phrased that well). What would Billy do? First he would never have permitted the bad practices after a loss. Second the starting five for the second half would have been McK, JJ, Kennedy, Kowacie, and the 170 pounder. And they would have played the whole second half. Third, he would have locked them out of the practice facility.
Mike White is a good guy. I think that is the problem. There is an old adage in the work place that says “everyone works a little harder when the boss is an SOB”

And then they quit and take a job elsewhere.
