No Gator men's tennis player has ever won the All American tournament in Tulsa. This tournament is considered as one of the two most prestigeous tournaments of the fall season. Ben Shelton won the title without the loss of a single set. Six matches in straight sets at this level of collegiate play is impressive. The sophomore turned nineteen this weekend. He is just growing into his tennis body and possesses one of the most lethal serves in collegiate tennis. Congratulations Ben!
Awesome! But I'm not shocked, Ben is so good now. He's going to be a serious pro IMO. In any other time and place, he'd be a lock to be playing #1 this year. But it's kind of ridiculous, we're returning the last 2 college major winners and the guy who played #1 all of last year. And the roster doesn't drop off too much beyond that. Really incredible where this program is at!
Yes it is a great time to be a Gator Men's Tennis fan. I can also tell you if things continue to come together all Gators will be very pleased with the recruiting class our coaching staff will sign in November!
