Enjoyed this read: "Competitive as Hell" - Florida Gators Sounds like this kid is filling a leadership gap.
Anyone notice in these grad transfer interviews that Mike White is usually the first coach to show up on their caller ID after entering the portal?
sounds like a junkyard dog, gym rat type of guy with some talent. Not to mention a beast in the weight room. Need more guys like this one.
And Mike out recruited Kansas! "Coach White is why I'm here. He was the difference-maker," McKissic said. "When I answered the phone, he was like, 'Is this the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year and National Defensive Player of the Year candidate Brandon McKissic?' He went on to say that I was one of his favorite players in the [portal] and offered me on the spot. When [Kansas coach] Bill Self called he didn't do that. Man, that spoke to me. Coach White went shopping that day. He didn't just want to put me in the cart, he wanted to buy me."
This was the best line and quote in the article for me: "Rhonda visited recently and was struck by her son's new build. 'Now that he's gotten all swole, I'm gonna have to pray for some people.'"
We’ve kind of lacked vocal leadership on the court for several years now. More silent leaders by example.
Interesting group of kids. A lot of talent and how do they fit into a defense first team, then dribble and chuck on offense. I hope they are working on sets of offense with pick and roles, switching big men from the top of the key to rolling into the paint. Our bigs need to be proficient to score around the hoop. No just chucking it up fron Tjirty five feet. Talent is here, what our coaching staff does with it will be what we become. I can only hope our offense gets better. The defense I know will be CMW focus. Hoping for coming out hot instead of finding ourselves in March. Tough schedule also, hoping............ Excited it’s almost basketball season, gooooooo Gators!
