The beer was flowing today. The hockey boyz are the best. They practice/play hard, knock the hell out of each other, party like rock stars and don’t wallow in BS. Kuch never disappoints, love that guy! Kucherov continues Stanley Cup celebration with '$18M over cap' shirt
Aw hell. Wish that hadn’t happened. That’s arguably the most revered trophy in all of sports. Lightning players flippantly calling it “the jug” and seemingly treating it accordingly - this won’t go over well in the hockey community.
Many folks don't realize that the original trophy was retired and lives in the Hall of Fame now and the one we see now is referred to as the "Presentation Cup". Also, Mark Messier dented the trophy multiple times by himself and similar incidents happened when the Devils, Black Hawks, Stars, Oilers, Wings (just to name a few) celebrated with the presentation trophy. Two teams have set it on fire. The incedent with Tampa is reported to have happened when an unnamed player was allowing a fan to touch it.
Come on man this has nothing to do with me, and I’m not passing judgement on anyone for getting drunk and breaking stuff. Hell, especially after winning back to back Stanley Cups. I’ve seen that cup make it’s rounds in Detroit, people drinking out of it in bars, Darren McCarty driving around with Stanley strapped to the back of his bike. I’m no prude with this, but that’s no little dent either. That thing got caved in. Gotta show The Cup more respect than that. Not a good look for “southern hockey” to damage that trophy that bad. “Set fire to it”? Never heard of that one @tilly
Maroon slipped when trying to allow a fan to touch it. He said he actually hurt his back in the process.
Stanley Cup damaged: Here's the time it's happened before | wtsp.com This has been happening forever, and I'm sure there are some undocumented instances of "worse" things happening.
