Such a tricky game to open up with, thankfully our offense brought their A-game. Just would like to see huge improvement from the D in game 2.
We won the game. Was never in question. Had 1 safety with any college experience for all drives except 1 and were without our starting DT. We were playing loose coverage most of the game and did not try to get much pressure besides situational which largely worked. need to tighten up 3rd and long and the young safeties got critical experience in a game that was in hand the whole time... also we had no game film of what Kiffen would do except up tempo... we played conservative on D on purpose. Ok lost... we don’t need to melt down over an easy win.
Looking at all the upsets this year already, and KSU beating OU today, it's clear this entire season is going to be a crap shoot. Survive and move on. I'm ecstatic with ANY win.
I acknowledge we had players out, a lack of warm up games and won the game. The concern is that the 3rd and long issue has been a regular occurrence healthy or not. Sloppy tackling can and will most likely get cleaned up. 3rd and long is a scheme and philosophy issue. We Will see going forward obviously. In any event its great to have a full fledged offense again
Similar to last year, I just don’t think our D is very good. Teams with advanced offenses can exploit the hell out of our secondary. The flip side of that is very few teams should be able to stop our offense consistently. We might be this years LSU on offense, but our D is definitely more questionable. But hey, if I’m going to choose only one I’d rather see elite offense. Our d just needs to get “good enough”.
