Exactly! We are so lucky to have the inventor of metrics as our President. It may take some time, but all these so called mathematicians and scientists should get off their high horses and learn from the master.
Wonder if these are part of the 30,000 ventilators NY required 2 weeks ago. Michigan To Receive 100 Ventilators From New York
I'm not sure what the time frame is on these projections, but if they are talking through the end of the year, 68,000 still seems way low. We will be at 40,000 in less than a week, and easily above 60k by the end of May even with a dramatic drop in the daily number.
I believe New York has been rather clear that it would seek to help other states with needs if and when it saw a stagnation or decrease in their numbers as a result of strong social distancing efforts. I’m sure Michigan would be happy to try to return the favor if it could. Not quite sure your snark is deserved.
Tough to find solid information on how many ventilators are/were needed by New York but the 30,000 number now appears to have been high: New York hospitals still searching for equipment While warning of a ventilator shortage on the horizon on April 2, Mayor Bill de Blasio — whose administration oversees 11 public hospitals — has spent $117 million over the past few weeks purchasing nearly 5,400 additional devices, according to contract disclosures posted Monday. Of those, more than 1,800 have been delivered. When the deals were struck, the mayor was painting a grim picture of the city’s supply, but fewer New Yorkers have been showing up to emergency rooms in need of intubation. On Sunday, the mayor said the city has enough supplies to last through the week. “We're not letting our guard down but we do have enough ventilators based on what we know now,” de Blasio said. In another glimmer of hope, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday returned 35 loaned ventilators to the Pathways Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Niskayuna, a suburb of Schenectady. “We are fine, so to speak, from an equipment point of view right now if the number doesn’t go up,” Cuomo said Monday. “And to the extent anyone we borrowed ventilators from [in] upstate New York we can return them whenever they need them.”
But Cuomo said he needed every single one of those and everyone was going to die because of Trump. I guess these were just some of those in that stockpile that didn’t exist. Let’s face reality that nobody knew the real numbers in the beginning but we can attack our political rivals in the mean time because that’s what’s really important.
Well, sorry you read my query as being snarky. I'm just wondering if NY received the 30K they needed. Maybe you need to seek a more objective (and far less partisan) place when reading the posts of others.
can you please explain to me why Cuomo would state the actual # he needed? This is Bargaining 101. Have you ever negotiated anything?
Pinellas nursing home sends dozens of patients to hospitals after coronavirus tests A nursing home in Pinellas County transferred nearly two dozen residents to Pinellas County hospitals Tuesday night, most of whom tested positive for COVID-19 and all of whom were presumed positive. Freedom Square Seminole Nursing Pavilion in Seminole sent seven patients each to Morton Plant Hospital, Largo Medical Center and St. Anthony’s Hospital. Others did not require hospitalization and are isolating. The facility includes both a rehabilitation center and an assisted living facility. In all, an estimated 30 patients and six staff members are presumed positive for COVID-19. The information was first provided to Florida Politics by a hospital staff member who treated three of the patients Tuesday night and Wednesday morning who asked not to be identified. The person said the patients at one hospital, which the individual also asked not to be named, were in stable condition. The status of those at the other hospitals was not immediately known. The Florida Health Department in Pinellas County said they did not have additional information and referred comment to the Agency for Health Care Administration and the affected nursing home.
And how where those in the nursing home exposed? By an asymptomatic care provider? Family member? From the article: Wait, they are just now putting measures in place, after it has been known for months that nursing homes are potential hot spots. Someone is getting sued.
Probably going to come in a bit lower on death numbers today unless Massachusetts or Michigan pop a huge number. Both Louisiana and New York were down in death totals from yesterday.
I know but it’s fun. Everyone needs to just laugh and learn to be a little less biased. It’s fine to state your choice in political party does and says dumb stuff. Trump says and does dumb stuff but I still agree with his policies a lot more than the other side.
so as of 1400 on worldometer, yesterday ny/nj had 1384 deaths, today 968, 400+ drop in a day is mighty suspicious, dont you think?
