He absolutely did not shut down travel with China. I just looked it up and I can get on 14 flights from Wednesday to Sunday that go from Beijing to LA. He stopped entry of Chinese citizens, which ignores the obvious point that viruses don't care about your citizenship.
Based on the factual ignorance demonstrated in the link you posted, it would seem that the attraction of "The Patriot Report" to this story is the opportunity to put emphasis on the Chinese ethnicity. Because it is not grounded in rality. The parade was in early February. There were zero cases documented in New York then. Other than the information from the IC that Trump rejected, the potential risk to New Yorkers was not then that well-known. The Yankees held a parade the last time they won a World Series, but it had nothing to do with the spread of COVID-19. And based on the incubation period of the disease (14 days), a parade in early February did not cause the outbreak in New York based on the numbers. In any event, since Trump' intelligence was better than the information available in New York, Trump should have taken action. But, instead of warnings or action, he buried the information. And, of course, all of this is inconsistent with the minimization of the risks we have seen in this thread and others. Now that there is a significant problem, all of a sudden the fringe right has changed its tune. You need better sources of information than "The Patriot Report." In its zeal to falsely trask New York and the Commissioner, it has ,apparently misled you. You need sources that do not promote ignorance by reaching false causal conclusions from facts.
I responded to your references to the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade. I have no idea if the tweets are accurate. They do not matter. There was no reason to cancel a parade in New York early February. Based on information then known, there were no cases in New York. And no information from the federal government that there was any cause for concern in early February. The conclusion is wrong.
They're real tweets, it's just that the story was completely irrelevant. The NYC Health Commissioner said that she had no problem with the Lunar New Year's parade almost three weeks before the first Covid-19 case was reported in NYC.
ATTENTION Once again, please understand the posts calling Trump and other politicians a lot of names must stop. This goes for any politician. When referencing them either use their name or title. Do not add a bunch of expletives in with it. With the loss of sports and the increase in traffic, there is often not enough time to edit a post when it happens so the quickest way to deal with it is to delete the whole post. This in turn often breaks the continuity of the thread. Do understand we are serious about this and it must stop. We understand emotions are running high but we still have to maintain the integrity of the board and GC overall.
They may have, but I never went that far to accuse them. Read what I said, not what you thought I said. I merely pointed out two things to consider from the article, big pharma and a poor testing system the President inherited for volume testing. Okay?
Fair enough, Hall. It remains that his psychological malady is going to get people killed and that there is no on more unfit to lead us through a crisis than him. He's breathtaking in his reckless disregard for others.
I'm not saying you did, I was trying to politely point out that regardless of the leanings of that particular source, the facts they built their story on are correct. I'm glad that we agree the facts of the story are correct.
Childish assertion. I think posting a crappy article and proceeding to go to battle over it is weak. I respect people who retract factually invalid articles instead of trying to save face. But that's me. You do realize in the game of life that one's failures does not absolve another's unrelated failures. Whataboutism is such an annoying sophism.
I agree there was no reason to cancel, but looking back in hindsight, do you wonder how many visitors there were there from China or Americans returning from China that may have contributed to the spread of the disease, similar to what happened with Mardi Gras?
true, but over 60% are in the ny/nj area, not to make light of that, but it seems like so much in concentrated there, washington has basically remained stable.
