I'm not even sure why we have all sorts of ratings since some posters take them too seriously. Sometimes the board glitches out (or maybe it's due to server load), and only Like is available. That would probably work better to avoid hostility.
Maybe you could also disallow emphatic statements as thread titles without any backup. This type of thing provokes negative commentary, especially when the poster is wrong. It's one thing to say what you've heard, it's another to say something is definitely going to happen, but I can't tell you why I know or how I found out. It's truly just ridiculous, and virtually every single poster that made such claims was wrong. I'm not a fan of thought police and speech police outside of profanity and indecency, but this is a private board, and you can do what you want. I would, however, think twice before kicking people when they are already down and have had to endure these weeks of speculation, only to be let down. Many of those you are chastising were merely frustrated at the misinformation that was being spewn with reckless abandon, and many of them also turned out to be correct in their assessments.
Uh oh...my life is a string of one liners...and they're usually pretty good...inside my head at least. Already broke the rule...didnt add anything.
The conduct I speak of is not something new or recent - it's been an ongoing problem for a good while. Ray
@Solari have you guys considered making one giant catch-all thread for, "The Sky is falling," for general use or maybe only for the games? Other forums on gameday generally have one, "Say something positive," thread, and a completely separate, "negativity/meltdown," thread.
We'll figure it out - esp. for game day threads since people still need a place to vent. But we still expect folks to be adults, i.e. no profanity, insults, and such. Ray
I will be greatly lowering my expectations of Gator football after this recent coaching search debacle. I have been a member for 17 years and last 7 have been pretty hard to watch. No one ever thought it would get to this level and it has definitely shown over this season.
Do we have to be cordial, and civil when discussing Beth Mowins shouting into her headset every game? How did we get stuck with her every game anyway?
I love this board Ray, and I don't let the few disrupt my opinion of the many great, diehard, Gators here. Thank you for resetting the standard.
