Blame Kelly and his agent all you want, but bottom line, Stricklin couldn’t close the deal. And he made us look weak by flying all our leadership up to NH without a deal in place. As much as Foley takes a beating here, he knew how to close a deal. See Meyer and Mac. Meyer had ND all over him. Mac had buyout issues, but Foley closed both times. Stricklin is good at sending cute tweets, but the fact that he couldn’t close with a product like UF to sell, and no major competition out there (spin all you want, UCLA is a second rate program) is really troubling and a huge fail for a new AD in his first major test.
If that's true, then I am glad we did not get him. Would not want to pay millions to a fired coach who could potentially have committed something that is worthy of being fired (other than lose in football).
This is weak negotiating by UF. If this is all that held up the deal it's sad.....really makes me lose faith in SS.
Welp, guess I’ll go decorate the house for Xmas now. Maybe I can get a wave from the UAA pilots as they fly over Jax while crossing the country in search of the next Ron Zook.
Yes, but the XBox is STILL the wrong color! You probably don't understand this but it referenced one of my previous posts.
Coach is right. We've had some tough breaks, some bad hires, and a misfire. Our current W-L reflects it. But there ain't nuthin mediocre about Florida Football. Stop sniveling and run the next play
I still think the waiting until after the regular season thing was a legit issue for the Niner offset money. So he wasn't going to come home with UCLA or UF last Sunday. UCLA wrapped up last night, so he can make the deal.
This is like a spit in the face. I seriously thought we offered him at least 6M and then UCLA came in with a 7M+ or so offer (plus their bran new football facility) and stole him from under our noses. We are going to end up paying way more for a lesser coach.
Yep. At least they didn’t get played. Welcome to the bottom half of the SEC (in football, anyway). I guess we should start getting comfortable here.
