I tend to agree. We cant start "shopping around" Foley style and hiring bargain basement coaches. Back the Brinks truck up to Frost's door, then Gundy's, when if they dont come, aim for Norvell. I just dont know about Campbell, I just feel he's a flash in the pan this season.
But what else could we possibly have to offer? If we didn’t offer full control then we deserve to suck for another decade
As some posters have already said, if he doesn't want to be here, nothing we can do. Move onto the next guy... and let's be honest...sometimes the second choice is miles better than the top candidate (saban and Rodriguez). Frost was my top choice, but obviously, I would have been ecstatic with kelly. That said, now that he's potentially out of the picture, let's be excited by our other candidates.
I would bet they offered less than us. He probably doesn't want to sweat his ass off and compete against all the cheating schools in the SEC.
The UAA needs to realize it needs to give FULL CONTROL to any other the potential elite coaches: Frost, Gundy, Kelly If we end up with a Strong or Taggart then it’s clear the UAA wanted their ego rubbed.
Lol no one inside the UAA deserves to have a job once this Chip to UCLA thing is official. It's amazing to me that with a 2 week head start they royally screwed it up to a UCLA administration that won over Chip in a matter of days. Might as well start fireUFUAA.com. All those people need to find another job
SO my inside guy who is probably similar to Till'y claims he saw...with his own eyes..a signature on the contract. So something broke down. I haven't heard what..but the Shannon rumors better not be it...I will lead the damn pitch fork mafia on campus if we refused Kelly because of Shannon.
Or he completely used us to leverage Jim Mora's exodus at UCLA. Casey Wasserman, UCLA'S biggest booster personally got involved with their administration. Classic bait and switch if he indeed does not come to Gainesville. I still have a hard time believing SS would send his boss up to NH and not be able to close. Holding out hope slightly. Also with reports saying we are meeting with Frosts' people this weekend, does not help us. Frost will be able to ask for whatever he wants now if this is indeed the case. We likely are setting ourselves us yet again with Nebraska negotiations. Sometimes the early bird does not get the worm.
So now we are to believe UF gave kelly sooo much and he came back now for a little more and we weren’t willing to give a little more? That’s the story? That sounds like complete bs. We were already in this deep so giving more to chip, especially considering the other options (outside of frost) and the investment we made already to chip, should be a no brainer. If that’s true and we didn’t give chip a little more, and we don’t get frost, stricklin comes out looking bad.
I think Kelly is getting more from the Gators offer than he ever dreamed of. There’s no shame in continuing to ask for more. Eventually we have to put the foot down. We are at that moment. Let’s see how bad Kelly wants to be a Gator.
So do we know for a fact that Kelly said NO or is all this based off of us pursuing other candidates?
